My mom may have had a small heart attack...

yesterday. I was on my way here to NC to visit my family yesterday when my dad called and said he was at the hospital with my mom. Then he went onto explain that she had got up to go into the kitchen and all of the sudden her heart started pounding and she had pressure in her chest this had happened before and the first she had gone to the ER and they had told her if it happened again to lay down flat and her heart should regulate the heart beat but yesterday it did not regulate itself and she had pain goingdown both arms. So I have been here all day with her and I am staying the night with her so my dad could go home and rest. Monday the Drs. are going to put a cathater in her lower stomach that will run up to her heart they will look at her arteries and if there is a blockage and it is only in one artery they can put a stint in it (which is where they insert a small baloon in there and blow it up to open the artery) but if 2 are blocked she will have to have Bi-pass surgery. So anyways everyone please keep her in your prayers, Thank you.

I hope your mom is doing well Amanda! I was sorry to hear of her health scare, I know it has to be terrifying to all of you. Best of luck and a healing candle burning to shine the most positive thoughts on the outcome of her tests!!

Absolutely -- my own Dad has been having heart problems, but I can tell you that just the things they have developed over the last 10 - 15 years are AMAZING. so be encouraged ... and yes, will keep her in my good thots and prayers!

Thanks everyone. I have not left the hosptial since I got here and I will let you guys all know the out come tomorrow.

Hi just wanted to give everyone an update on my mom. They did not have to do a stint because there was no blockage. They said her irregular heartbeat maybe being caused by her high cholestrol and uncontroled diabetes so the are going to give her some new meds for those two problems as well as another med to regulate her heart beat. I am staying with her for the 3rd night in a row and we are both hopeinh she will get to go home tomorrow. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers.

That's good news, Amanda. I hope they get it regulated soon, so she can get home. I'm sure you are all exhausted. Sending more good thoughts and prayers your way.

I'm glad to know that she doesn't need the stint. I'll keep her in my thoughts for stabilizing and getting meds that work well for her.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone again my mom is now home and so far the new meds seem to be helping she says she feels much better than before and her sugar levels have been better. She is now on 2 kinds of insulin 1 of which she gets 3 shots a day and the other only once a day before bed time.they also put her on a blood thinner and new cholestrol meds. Her dr said she may only have to be on the thinner for 3 months just depends on how things go. He also said me and my sisters and brothers need to keep an eye on our cholestrol because both mom and dad have it and there are no warnings to if you have it until you have a heart attack or something. So I will get my checked asap.
