this old Pug - the saga continues

I was at the shelter yesterday walking dogs and this little old man touched my heart.  He didn't have a name, but was a stray brought in and he has some medical issues.  I spent a little time with him - it seemed to hurt for him to walk, but he definitely wanted to cuddle.  He was scared and whimpering and it was heartbreaking.  If anyone has a good thought or a prayer to spare for him, he could use it.

Oh my. It would have been tough to leave him there. Poor little guy. Send him hugs for me.

Poor guy.  The seniors at the shelter really break my heart.  Saying a prayer for all the seniors lost and bewildered in shelters everywhere today.

Poor old fella.  The type of dog where you say, "oh yeah, he can stay".  There is always a corner available for a guy like this.

Sending good thoughts that a good family will take him in.

     Poor poor dog...

Many good thoughts are heading your way...

Can you contact pug rescue?  He's a pug right?

    • Gold Top Dog

Yes, he is a pug.  I don't know if the main volunteer(s) who are there daily are contacting pug rescue or not.  I am only over there once a month or so lately - so many home repair projects going on and not enough time because I still have to work.  But I will send an email to the volunteer coordinator to see if she has any other details and maybe she will know or can push someone in that direction.  If you can believe it, yesterday, being a holiday, there was only one other volunteer helping out; the rest were the animal control employees and I wasn't really sure who to ask about him, esp. since I don't know what info they'd give me.

Callie, it's kinda weird because I've never seen pugs around here until you were working on rescuing Tinkerbelle and suddenly, I've seen several around town.  I'd never met one until this little old guy until yesterday.

Yes, me too, definately.  I saw a couple today at our SPCA and it was so upsetting.

    Callie, what's one more pug???LOL

    Hi Everyone!

The Director of MidWest Pug Rescue (Kansas City) sent me this link as I am in Cadillac, MI. Can you tell me what shelter this old man is in and if they are rescue friendly? I have contacts with a couple of pug rescues here in MI. and am willing to pick him up if he is close to me...otherwise we can hopefully get someone from rescue who is close by to get him...I hate the thought of him being scared and/or in pain!!

    Thanks so much!!

aw, yay! I love it when rescues are able to pull the 'hard to place pets'. =]

Right after I posted this, this morning, I emailed Rita (my friend with Dallas Ft Worth Pug Rescue that we got Tink thru) and SHE posted on Pug Village's forum and emailed  some "pug people" up there and this is what she just sent me:

"Just got an email, a local rescue saw my post and is working on trying to get him.  She said a lot of the shelters there will not work with rescue but she's doing what she can.

Any time any one posts needing help with a pug, let me know.  Pug rescue contacts are fairly organized nationwide and we can usually get help to a pug almost any where.

Thanks for letting me know.  Some times you think surely someone is on this already but its just a matter of the right people getting the message at the right time.  I always post just in case."

So hopefully the network "worked" -- pugs are among those breeds who need people who understand them, particularly elderly pugs.

Pug Puzzle, I'm about to email the lady above who started this thread AND you and see if we can getcha together.  I love it when we can all network like this and what the heck do a few emails cost?  NOTHING!!

Tina -- pretty please  email "Pug Puzzle" on the thread you started about the elderly pug guy you saw.  The pug network is trying to get this guy and she'll get him into network if you can help.

Great!! Thanks so much, I hope to hear from Tina!

I just checked PugVillage and saw that it was posted there also...and that PRN (Pug Rescue Network) is trying to find out where this guy is...so hopefully we can get him out! I worry, elderly dogs with medical problems tend to not make it out of shelters...I know I pulled a 14 yr old boy just hours before he was to be euthanized due to his age a couple of years ago. He never was offered for adoption, they figured no one would want him...fingers crossed we can get this boy to safety also!!

If you don't hear from Tina LET ME KNOW.  Look at the top of each post at the poster's name -- then straight across is a "Contact" button.  In that list is both email and "personal message" -- for ME,   email is best ... in order to get a PM you have to be 'logged in' and even then it doesn't announce it very well -- but I sent her both a PM and an email.  Tina has a new baby, so her time on here is limited.

Yay yay yay!! I hope he gets out of the shelter and into someone's home. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
