Some prayers and good thoughts please.

Get better, sweetie!  You're in my thoughts & I'm asking Lucy (@ the Bridge) to look over & keep you safe & on the healing path.

Lani, please tell Missy that I'm thinking about her &, if you can, give her a kiss from me.

I emailed you-- I had a feeling in my gut it was pancreatitis.  When you've been thru it ... man it's scarey stuff.  Holler if I can help.

    She's home!!

.... for now.  She has to go back to the vet in the morning for another day of IV treatment.

The vet said she's responding exceptionally well to the IV and she's one tough little dog. Also that she's incredibly good natured.  Which we already knew :)

So, Missy has had her kisses and loves (thanks everyone) delivered.  We aren't quite out of the woods yet, I can't even let her smell food or it could cause her pancreas to react, and that would be disastrous.  But for now she's on the bed, sleeping.  She has her arm taped up and is very drugged up, which is kind of funny in a pathetic, cute way. I'm trying to keep Logan away from her, but he's curious and worried.  But he's so big and she's so out of it, it's a rife with problems.

Thanks so much, really, truly from the bottom of my heart.

Wonderful!!!  I'm so happy to hear that!!!!  Keep healing little Missy!

Thank you! She's back at the vet now, they say she seems a lot more alert and in less pain today!

Tashmoo, I forgot to answer you question about the vet thing. I'm not sure why they didn't keep her.  They gave her a shot of some sort (she said antibiotics?) and subcues... I guess they felt the other options were more plausible?  I'm not sure. I just know it came close to not being a happy ending, but, it looks like it should be.  Thank God.  She had a little diarrhea once or twice when she came home, they said she did there too, very little blood (prior to going in... it was pure blood it was one of the scariest things I've seen.) overall she slept well.

Anyway, Thank you so much.. I'm so happy that she seems to be pulling out of it!!

Thanks!  I just freak out when i hear possible pancreatitis.  I feel such a sense of urgency to get the dog to the vet NOW!!!  Any time of my dogs throws up or anything out of the ordinary, i just go into immediate panic mode, so i apologize if i was abrupt.  I'm so happy she is doing better - i don't know if the vet said anything, but from now on she has to really what what she eats, it's kinda sad but no more treats or anything that may have fat in it.  I ended up putting all my dogs on the same food so that there was no more stealing from each other's bowls.

I hope the little one continues to do well - it's a nasty nasty disease.

You weren't abrupt at all!  I just was out of my mind when posting before!  Sorry I didn't address it sooner. I really don't think we expected pancreatitis or appreciated the severity of it ("we" being my mom and I).  I think me saying "oh, yeah she's a garbage hound." and this mystery virus gave us all a false sense of security. It was a mistake that we nearly paid for.  Poor, poor Missy, I feel horrible about that.  But, hindsight and all of that, I guess.

She is a fat little dog, too.  She LOVES her treats! This is gonna be as hard on her as it is on my mom.  My mom gets great joy out of feeding her things she loves... but, she's committed to changing that.

She's been on a raw diet, the vet says we can return her to that after a period of bland food.  So, that's the plan.  I'm holding off on boiling chicken until i get the OK, as the smell of food was even dangerous.  This is a whole new world for us.  I'm so sorry you have to worry about this too, with TWO dogs no less.  I appreciate your help.. I will no doubt have more questions soon!

Hey, if Missy can keep the vultures at bay, I bet she can fight off this sickness, too!  Sending good thoughts for STRENGTH and HEALTH!!  Hugs hugs hugs!!!!  (and some extra Dobersmooches from Gracie, too!)

    Guess who's home!?  YAY!

She's allowed to start eating SMALL meals every few hours.  She said to keep our fingers crossed, as now there would be a high chance of relapse.

So boiled chicken and white rice, about 1 -2 table spoons every few hours.  She's got a healthy appetite and alert.  Whew!  THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS! I'm sure it made all the difference, it got touchy there for awhile.

I'll let you know how she's feeling tomorrow.  Hopefully more good news :)
