Some prayers and good thoughts please.

Missy, some of you may remember.  She's become my mom's dog.  She's with me right now while my parents are out of town has become very sick.

She didn't all the day Saturday, which isn't abnormal, sometimes she just doesn't want to eat, it became a little more strange when she didn't want to eat yesterday, but she would take treats, so I figured her stomach was upset, probably ate something from the garbage. Then I noticed her poop was soft and then last night started projectile vomiting.  All night.  Then the diarrhea started. It looks like both the diarrhea and vomit has blood in it.This morning I called the vet first thing. We just got home.

She said it could be 1 of 3 things, most likely.

    - Garbage Gut, Missy is prone to dive in the trash.  And she sometimes gets garbage gut, which is why I wasn't too concerned initially. She usually  pulls out of it after a day or two.

    - Pancreatitis. My teenage nieces were over, and they very generous with snacks, even though I would prefer they were not. This could make sense. They were here all day Friday.

    - A mystery virus that's going around here.  Mimics parvo, but usually the dogs are VERY dehydrated and much sicker than Missy is acting.  It's also contagious.... which means my other two would be in danger.

She felt that it probably was NOT an obstruction, but if she's not pulling out of this tomorrow we go in for x-rays.  We already had the blood work done, we should have results tomorrow.  They also gave her a camel back (subcutaneous fluids) and a shot of antibiotics, said she's slightly dehydrated, but not to the point they need to keep her.  However I have to pull all food AND water for 24 hrs.  And we get blood work back tomorrow around 9 am. If she's still as sick as she is today tomorrow, she's going to the vet for a stay, of probably a few days.

I'm hoping it's just a severe case of garbage gut... but, I don't know when she's ever been this sick.

Any good thoughts of prayers we'd appreciate I know how awesome and powerful they are.

    Thank you

    Missy:

Oh my poor little Spud.  Ben and I are sending "get better" kisses and snuggles, please stop worrying your people so much!  You're in my thoughts, little one.

I hope it's not pancreatitis.  I have 2 dogs that are prone to that and when we suspect it our vet gets them on IV's right away.....I hope the sweet little thing is feeling better soon.  She has an adorable face!

At first I posted a health-type response not realizing this was the Spiritual Circle -- I'll email that and send the other to you via email.

Will most SURELY pray -- I've had two dogs have varying degrees of pancreatitis -- it's hard but sounds like you've caught it in time anyway IF it is that.  But prayers and good thots for SURE.

Oh, how frightening to see her with those symptoms and not know exactly what's wrong!  Sending lots and lots of good thoughts and vibes that it's just a bout of something she ate and that she'll show improvement ASAP.  Feel better, Missy!

Thank you so much guys, I certainly appreciate it.

She's more or less stopped vomiting, however the diarrhea has seemed to intensify and it's very bloody. I called the vet they say if it doesn't calm down immediately take her to the emergency vet as the subcue's can't keep her hydrated if she's loosing that much fluid.  They need to put her on fluids.

It's very scary... and I truly appreciate your thoughts, prayers and kind words. Will let you know when I know anything.

Severe pancreatitis.  Normal counts, of whatever they are are at 1000, her's is at 3000.  They said she's a tough little dog, as it's at the point that it could be fatal.

She's in the hospital getting IV's and something on the line of morphine.

Thank so much guys... we still need them till she pulls thru!  I'm just glad to know what it is and she's being treated.

    I'll post later.

Honey I just got your email.  Poor Spud, how awful for her.  I hope the meds give her fast relief and rapid improvement.  Call/text/email if you need anything at all.

Oh, no, poor Missy.  We are definately keeping her in our thoughts and you too as I know how upsetting this stuff can be!   But, at least you have a diagnosis which is good so often those symptoms can be so many things.

We'll be checking in for updates later!

Oh no - I am so sorry!  If it makes you feel any better, as i mentioned before, my dogs Tashmoo and Sierra are very prone to pancreatitis attacks and have been hospitalized at least 4 times between the two of them, and they both have made it through ok. Just be prepared, she may be in for a week or more before they feel she is well enough to go home.

It's funny, in my first post I started to say why didn't the vet hospitalize her right away if they suspected pancreatitis, then i thought I sounded really rude and edited it.  I hope she is ok, I've been thinking of her and sending all positive energy her way!!!!!
