I'm so afraid right now.....

I'm sending lots of prayers. I've been in a similar situation before, and I know how stressful it is.

I'm praying that a job comes along very soon.

OMG, Glenda, I had no idea.  I don't know if Michigan is like here, but I do know that home health aides are in great demand.  The pay sucks, but it would buy dog food and maybe get you some insurance, plus you don't need experience, they mostly train you.  Also, many of the AAA's have quite a turnover in their entry level case management jobs - some you need a degree, but others you don't.  http://seniors.tcnet.org/local/michigan_area_agencies_on_aging.htm

I bet jeano would love to meet you face to face - maybe you could stand the cold in Alaska, since you do it in Michigan:

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers everyone.  PLEASE keep them coming.  I'm looking into everything possible for me, no one will hire DH because of his background....somehow they don't think he'll stick around bagging groceries.......loooking like radio is going to have to be it for him.

"They" are being decent to me....but, THEY drink a lot, and fight even more.  I know moving is stressful, but gosh, it's really over the top!

Thoughts and prayers will be going out to you and your family. Hang in there, I know in my own life some of the worst and scariest moments led to better days.

Holy crap... that's all I have to say. I was bored and browsing the forum and read this and was like what?!

I could help you but you would have to move out of Michigan... to either MA or FL. If you are interested let me know!

    Sending you some good luck!!!

We know that we'll have to leave MI, that's the nature of the radio beast.  FL totally does NOT do it for me.  But, DH grew up in Boston and infected me with Fenway fever...........

If you end up in the RV, see if your library provides internet access.  They do around here, sign up, sit down, and the internet is yours.  Not sure if they have any printers.

Do you or DH have any hobbies?  Sometimes one can turn a hobby into a business.  A lady I knew on another board is making some good money selling custom dog collars, leashes, bandanas and vests.  She was laid off and started the business while waiting for more work, I don't know if she's looking for work anymore, she might be going full time with the home business.

I'm so sorry glenda :( I know you will get through this! Anyone who can handle that many GSD's can pretty much get through anything.

I'm so sorry, Glenda. I had no idea. Good vibes and thoughts are coming your way...

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh, no Glenda!  We'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best.

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm so sorry Glenda; prayers that your husband finds a job are pouring your way. Have you thought about offering to let the person you're renting from use your RV for a vacation if he lets you stay a few more months?  {{HUGS}}.

We're praying for your family ((hugs))

Ship those GSD boys to FL for a vacation! They can come hang with me and Pirate! :) (Pirate is drooling over all those fuzzy ankles - he loooves ankles!)

Glenda, I'm on the forum so infrequently now that I had no idea that you and your husband were out of work.  That alone would cause great anxiety, but to add to that the issue of losing your housing, and I'd be an absolute wreck.  Absolutely sending you a million strong vibes for jobs, housing, finances, good luck, etc!!!

Having to find rental housing with pets can be tough - we went through that a few years ago.  We have friends who moved across country and due to various things, had to move into their 5th wheel.  They were used to a 3 bedroom house, so it's been an adjustment, but it's been a lifesaver while they straighten out their housing situation.

As for job advice, all I can suggest is to register with some temp agencies.  Even stuffing envelopes for a few bucks an hour is better than nothing, and temp jobs can often lead to permanent positions elsewhere in a company.  That happened to me a couple times in my working life.  Even without practical experience, your accounting education would put you in a good place for some basic bookkeeping jobs that temp companies have - even if you're just keying in invoices in an Accounts Payable department or something.  Do you have anything like a Home Depot or Lowe's near you?  My friend's husband worked at Home Depot for a couple years and the pay was pretty good as I recall.  Don't forget to check websites for large institutions like hospitals or colleges/schools -- many times they put their openings only on their websites.  Our local hospital has great benefits and there are lots of jobs that don't require medical or specialized professional skills - and there are 3 shifts to choose from for many jobs, so that can be a plus sometimes.

Maybe you could conduct seminars on "conquering phobias."  I'll bet there are a lot of us who'd pay good money for professional guidance on overcoming our fear of snakes, for example, and you'd be a great teacher!  Wink

I don't mean to make light of it - I wish I had other ideas for you.  I can't imagine how stressful this must be.  Again, sending all the good vibes possible!

But, DH grew up in Boston and infected me with Fenway fever...........

There are plenty of homes for sale, as I have never seen before! And foreclosures that banks are trying to unload. You could find a deal, but homes cost more here than in Mi.  Plenty of summer rentals around as well.

And of course baseball season is near!

What part of Ma is he from?  North or south shore?

Watertown? Waterford? Something with water in it's name...... There has been what sounds like a perfect fit job in NH hanging for weeks. The GM is no longer making the decision, and the guy who IS has been out the last couple of weeks with a death in the family. It's not so far that I couldn't still make regular trips home to see my Mom so she doesn't feel like I've abandoned her. Another one popped up yesterday in South Dakota....a little further than I'd like to be, but, you've gotta do what you've gotta do. I've got a temp job. Three days a week, about 20 hours and it pays decently enough to justify the gas to go to it. We're out in the boonies and the only business out here of any size has been downsizing for months. And unfortunately, so much of the industry and businesses in TC are auto related that the economy up here is in pretty bad shape. We originally tought that maybe I could get a good enough job to carry us, but, that didn't happen, despite my best efforts. Something good has to happen soon......and hopefully we can all load things up and go together, even if we do have to stay in the RV while we find a place to live. At least we'd know that there is light at the end of the tunnel that way, and we'd all be together. I hate the idea of trying to live for any length of time in the motor home and being apart.
