Prayers for the love of my life

I'm so glad he's home with you and I'm sure he is too. I hope all of you are able to enjoy a nice, relaxing weekend together.

I'm glad to hear he's home with you and all the critters.  As someone else said, healing always seems to be better when one is in surroundings that feel safe and familiar, with loved ones (2- and 4-legged) nearby for support.  I hope each day brings more strength to him (and to you) - both emotionally and physically.

I don't come to this section often and completely missed this!  I am glad he is home and will pray for continued improvement!  I am sure all the doogies will make sure he is getting all of the attention he needs.... Wink

And, he is officially a non-smoker - hope that lasts

I know that will be tough. We have a friend who suffered from growth deformities that made one leg shorter than the other. Made him short all over, back problems. Speciallly equipped van. Two canes and/or crutches, sometimes a wheelchair. Anyway, he went into the hospital to get a stent put in a leg artery but they ended up having to do a cut-down. While in hospital, they found out he is allergic to tobacco. And he's had 3 packs a day for decades. So, he's cut down to a few cigs a week with the idea of quitting. Our other friends help by getting him the nastiest, foul cigarettes they could find. And they keep the cigarettes. It's the only way he can quit. The patches and gums have nicotine, which he is allergic to. So, there's no choice but almost cold turkey.

Anyway, glad to see your guy is back home and doing better.

How are you guys holding up Anne?

    • Gold Top Dog

Hi all - BF is doing surprisingly well (last week, I really thought I was going to lose him).  He is a little more unsteady than before, but his speech is very much better, almost normal.  He's sticking to his diet, and to being a non-smoker (although with one minor lapse - fished a butt out of the trash LOL - talk about addicted!).  Memory is better, too, but not wonderful.  All in all, holding his own for now.

Thank you to all the wonderful idoggers who held him up in their thoughts and prayers.  Love you all.

I've been there myself and it's hard to explain the lengths a person will go to when the cravings are so strong. Is he using any patch, gum, medication?

I'm glad he's doing well and I'm sure that your love and care, coupled with all doggie kisses, are going a long way in keeping his spirits up.

Anne, I'm so glad to read this update!  Tomorrow is Valentine's Day - what better way to spend it than at home with your beloved.  Who needs flowers & chocolate - you have each other.

I'm so glad to hear he's doing better.  As someone who is fighting the nicotine addiction, it's TOUGH to get that monkey off your back.

Prayers are still being sent from me & da boyz to you & your loved ones.

Got him!  He's happy to be home, and so are the furkids.  I thought Sequoyah's butt would wiggle right off, and the hound must have stood there sniffing him for twenty minutes (*hey, dad, you smell like you went to the vet*).  Sioux was happy, but I think she was less stressed this time because she had actually gone to visit and knew where he was.

This made me smile. There's nothing like a doggy welcoming party is there? :) Good to hear that he's doing better. Keep the updates coming!

Glad to hear the good news.  Both of you have a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
