Winnie needs some prayers now

Hmmm, where did all the other posts go?

It was a toss-up whether to put this in Health or here, but I guess the prayers might help more.

Well, now the Vet thinks Winnie has pancreatitis, on top of all her other problems (Ecoli UTI and suspious spots on liver and spleen),

It was time for her morning medicine, and she wasn't in her normal spot on the doggie bed. I finally found her hiding in the bedroom closet. Then she didn't want her breakfast (unheard of)...then I saw her straining to poop outside. Alarmed, we rushed off to the Vet, where she is staying the night and getting fluids, antibiotics, and vitamins intravenously.

A blood test (second one this week) showed high pancreatic enzymes...liver and kidneys were normal, but low RBC. The Vet isn't ruling out it being the spleen, though. The nitrofurantoin isn't supposed to do this, but I am wondering... I really thought that this was gonna be IT for her. Well, it's not over yet...

And I acted upon this urgently...weekend coming up...

Sending good thought and vibes to Winnie (and to you). I hope she's okay tonight and that tomorrow finds her feeling better and with encouraging news about her prognosis.

Thank you for the prayers, but keep on doing it, please. Her color was a little better today, but not good enough to come home. A new blood test showed little improvement. So she will stay the weekend and continue treatments. Maybe Monday....

How is Winnie doing today? Hope things have improved since you posted.
Ever since Bud, foster Basset mix, came to us for care I have fallen more and more for the Basset breed - they are simply wonderful snuggle pups!

Thanks...Bassets are the sweetest puppers!

I was just coming here to post that Winnie came home this morning! She pulled me outta there as if she were a sled dog! She started eating and her RBC came up quite a bit. Most importantly, she isn't in pain now. We may never know what caused this (not fatty foods), but I sure hope it was a one time occurrance!

Yeah Winnie! WTG! Keep getting better - it's not nice to scare Mom like that!

Glad she is feeling better and definitely ready to leave the vets! LOL.
