    Thoughts for my dog

We just found out our 8-1/2 year old chow mix has bone cancer.  There's not much hope, but I'd appreciate your good thoughts.
    Thanks.

For sure -- it's such a shattering diagnosis.  I just lost a sister in law to bone cancer, so I truly DO understand.

I have Dr. Clemmons' cancer diet (he's a vet at the U of FL at Gainesville) that I'd be happy to send you.  It's got lots of good info.  A cancer diet is a diet low in carbs (particularly no grain carbs) -- it can help maximize any quality time you may have.

Radiation can be an option -- dogs react differently to chemo and radiation than we do, and it can sometimes be a good option.

But for sure -- good thots and prayers already on their way.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog.  Take Callie's offer of the diet.  When my dog had kidney disease, Callie and Janet both gave me info and links that helped me to prolong her life (with pretty good quality of life) much longer than my vets predicted I'd be able to do.
