Prayers for my dad, please?

My dad is getting divorced from my stepmom. That in itself isn't a huge deal, they've only been married a few years, but he's diabetic, in kidney failure, and has chronic lymphocytic leukemia and this divorce means he loses his health insurance. He's self-employed and completely uninsurable. He has applied for disability to get Medicare (Medicaid?) but won't have an answer for several months. Some of his health issues, including a previous serious heart attack were aggravated by alcoholism (I fear a relapse) and he was suicidal at one point in the distant past.

Please, if you can spare some good thoughts for my dad, for his health (which is stable for now), for the gov't to process his papers quickly, and most importantly for strength - he's going to have to give up his house since it's too expensive, doesn't know if he can buy a smaller one or if he can rent somewhere with a chow and a lab, and he doesn't need to be stressed at all. I'm scared to death for him, he's had a few health-related episodes where he would have died if he lived alone. He's only 57 [

I wish him all the best and hopefully he can get that medicare, that would help out a lot. He's got a chow??? I didn't know that. How great, post some pictures if you have any.

Her early life was similar to Willow's. She had a horrible temperament when I first met her, but she's turned into an awesome dog.

Awwwww. . .gorgeous, I love my chows. And, look at little Boomer, how adorable! Keep me posted on how dad is doing, poor thing. A divorce is hard enough then to have to deal with illness and financial issues too. . .horrible.

You've got them, for both you and your dad. Praying that he finds the right house for him and the puppers, and that there are no health problems from the stress of restructuring his life. Hang in there!

Kelly, I'm so sorry about your Dad. Gee he sure has some issues to face,,,and he really is so young. What a worry for you. Maybe there is some help out there while he is waiting for his Medicaid/Medicare! Seems that there should be,,,, if there is a medical problem that can't wait.
I sure hope that he can work thing out quickly,,,,and that his health holds up in the meantime.

Wow Kelly, it certainly sounds like your dad has an awful lot going on in his life right now, and I can understand your concerns. I'll be praying that things go smoothly with the divorce, the disability coverage and finding a new home. Any one of those would be a huge stressor for a healthy person, so I'm sure he'll need your love and support more than ever.
