Husband surgery

Well friends,,tomorrow is the big day!
DH is to have discs fused in surgery. He also has stanosis (sp??) ,,,and that will be taken care of too! I HOPE AND PRAY!
But its really "iffy" right now. I have been sick with a cold for weeks,,,and of course he got it also. He went to the family doctor right away in hopes to rid himself of it,,,for surgery. Living proof that antibiotics won't help a cold. He has had it for a week and a half. Of course its at the end,,,but don't know if they will be able to do the surgery or not. The doctor told him to come and they will check him out. My friend Lucy who is a surgical nurse told me they will check his lungs,,,temperature and his all around feeling....so we won't know until tomorrow. This whole thing has been hanging over us for months now,,, sure hope he can get it over with and be on the way to recovery. He will be in a body cast (can be taken off for bed) for 3 months. This won't be easy.
Hope you guys will send some prayers and good thoughts our way.

Dyan - I'm saying lots of prayers and sending healing thoughts that they're able to go forward with the surgery and it goes smoothly. I can only imagine how stressful it's been worrying about the surgery itself and then to have the colds, for both of you, have been. I hope to hear that it's all over and he's on his way to a healthy recovery soon. Hugs to you and your husband.

Dyan, sending lots of good vibes (including cold-fighting ones!) to you and your husband. The waiting period before a major surgery is so tough -- I can imagine the frustration he feels at just wanting to get on with it. We'll look forward to updates from you.

Gosh Dyan, have been so insanely busy that I haven't had a chance to see this. Here's hoping that the surgery is over with and was a MAJOR success!

Thanks for the best wishes everyone!
Just checking in to say DH DID have the surgery...what a long day it was!
We were there from 9:15 until around 11:30 before we knew for sure he was to have the surgery. Never saw him again until about 5:30 PM,,,maybe even 6. Can't believe they didn't have a room for him after surgery (I guess someone that was to leave hadn't been picked up yet) so they never called me down to recovery or anything, until I spoke up a few times and parked myself in front of the surgery desk. But all is well that ends well,,,,they decided since his lungs were clear,,they would go ahead with surgery. Hopefully he mends and recovers quickly. HAs to be in a removable body cast for the next 3 months.

Oh, Dyan, I'm so glad the surgery is over. How uncertain it all was for you with the cold and just the entire ordeal.

A body cast for 3 months? Whew. Whew.

Keep us updated on the recovery and how you're doing thru it all, ok?

So glad this part is over.

Sorry I was late and did not extend my well wishes before surgery, but you both have them now for recovery.
