Well, I thought I should post here. It worked for Willow maybe it will work now.
My grandmother (she'll be 81 in Oct) isn't well. She's had a long battle with complications from diabetes over the past couple of years. What a scary disease it is. She'd been doing fairly well recently until a few weeks ago.
She has an artificial hip on one side that was done about 10 years ago or more. She noticed a lump at the surgery site and it started to grow. Well, long story short she has an infection in her real bone not the replacement area. They are trying to treat her with very strong antibiotics for the past two weeks. It is a last resort drug otherwise she will need surgery. The surgery will actually be very extrensive and really be two operations. They will remove the artificial hip, clean out the infection from the bone and treat her without a hip for some time. Then when the infection is gone, replace the hip. This is months of rehab and two very tough surgeries that even the doctors don't want her to have to go thru. At her age and with being diabetic, it would be a mess. And, honestly, I don't think she'd survive. Her will to fight is diminishing. She fought hard to get well two years ago when she was ill. But, then she thought she'd be able to do more, drive again, etc. She's not doing those things anymore.
Anyway, she's in the hospital with her blood sugars all over the place from these antibiotics and she's also got another infection. So, two infections total.
Please, please pray for her. She's the only grandparent I have left. I've been so fortunate to have her for 34 years of my life. But, I'm not ready for her to go and I don't want it to be like this. . .
On topic with this forum, she's a dog lover and allowed my mom and uncle to take in whatever dogs they found when they were kids. She's never been afraid of Willow and I've got to constantly remind her that she's unpredictable. I think Willow would be OK but considering the diabetes I never wanted to chance it.
Anyway, thanks so much.
