    It's Adopt Senior Dog Month

    -Celebrate Senior Dog Month-

Thinking of adopting a dog? Please consider a senior dog. Old doesn’t mean sick or broken, many senior dogs love daily walks, small hikes, they love to play and are still very youthful. They are great for many families whether you are active or mellow they make wonderful companions.

Senior dogs are typically calm, housebroken and just enjoy keeping us company. Many of us have busy lives and don’t have time to invest in a puppy, but still love dogs and want one in our lives, a senior dog is the perfect answer.

    Please consider a senior dog.

This is Nova, she was dropped off at a shelter just because she was old. She’s a 10 year old Pitt Bull that still loved to walk and play. She was fostered by one of our employees and now lives the good life with a few other senior dogs, she spends her days in the sun room and ambling around her 2 acre yard!

Shaggy was 7 years old and was blind, chronic ear infection, very underweight, just getting over staph infection of the skin when we adopted him--knowing all his ailments---ecept for the one that killed him---hemangiosacarma.  It killed him 3 week and 3 days after we adopted that amazing, ever so sweet great Pyrenees mix.  However, we have come to think he was not a mix at all, just stunted from being crated his first 6 or so years..  Such a short time but we would not take for one minute of it and we miss him so much.  We have since adopted another 7 year old Great Pyrenees who appears to be healthy according to our vet.  Of course you never know.  From forums I have learned young dogs often have severe problems, even death causing ones.  The thing is, we are making this dogs happy, giving them a great life be it for a few weeks or a few years.  Moose loves his daily walks, his home made treats, home made stew added to his grain free kibble.  He loves patrolling the yard, and he loves being with and next to us.

Thank you for sharing your story ! Shaggy sounds like he was so loved. Even though you were together for a short time, the bond that you shared will last forever. <3
