Prayers for Jessie please

Just reading this Janice. It' s nice to read things after the fact, when major improvements have been seen. That sounds like some real positive news from the internist. Sending continued healing vibes.

Hi Janice...just seeing this for the first time...guess I'm coming in at a good time...after  Jessies is feeling better and things are looking up. I'm so happy that she is..... its so tough when our furbabies are sick like this...and I just hate old age.    I pray she keeps improving each day.   Did this all start with a pancreas attack?  I know last we talked you had it pretty much under control.     Best wishes....will be thinking about you and Jessie.   oxox

    Just checking on Jessie today?

I'm sorry I didn't update sooner but we've been pretty busy. She may come home tomorrow! Her BUN and creatine are within normal range; BUN was 93 now less than 35  ( I forgot to ask the exact number); creatine was 4.3 and is now 1.7. They are weaning her off fluids and will see how her kidneys respond; they expect her values to increase but hopefully only a little. They have been very happy with how well she has responded to fluid therapy. DH and I can tell she feels much better. She will need to be on a kidney diet and the prescription diets for kidney disease have too much fat for her pancreatitis. The gastroenterologist  is going to formulate a cooked diet for her.

You are all wonderful and DH and I are very thankful for your thoughts and prayers.

I'm so happy to hear that Jessie is continuing to recover so well! I bet she'll really feel great when she gets to go home with you. It sounds like you've got a great team of medical professionals. How awesome that you'll have a specially formulated cooked diet from the specialist. Give her some ear rubs from me, keep us posted after she gets home!

    great news!

She's home  (we brought her home yesterday evening). We'll have her blood work rechecked on Friday. They think she may have a kidney infection and that it may have been why her kidney values increased so dramatically. She had a mild UTI 2 weeks ago and was on Baytril. While she was at the hospital, they rechecked her urine and it was positive for bacteria, so she still has some type of UTI.  She is on more than twice the dose of Baytril that my vet had her on. She is very sensitive to antibiotics so her appetite may be poor for awhile and the fact that she's recovering from a pancreatitis flare up doesn't help, but she has to stay on the Baytril until the infection is gone.  Thank you again for all your good vibes; I'll keep you updated on her progress but it's great to have her home!

So glad to hear that Jessie is back at home with you.  Knowing how rough strong antibiotics can be on the digestive system, she has my sympathy about being on that Baytril for such a long while.  Poor thing -- I hope all the infection clears up soon and that her kidney values and blood work continues to improve.  I also hope you can get a good diet worked out for her that she'll like and that will work within the needs of her health conditions.  Give her some gentle pats from me!

Thank you so much! She ate better today than she has for at least 2 weeks; almost a cup of food so far, so maybe the Baytril won't affect her too much. They're waiting for results from the urine culture and she may not have to take all the Baytril. I thought her kidney values had went up because she was dehydrated. She hasn't ate much the past few weeks because of the pancreatitis flare up, and when she doesn't eat, she drinks very little. We didn't know they thought she may have a kidney infection until yesterday when she was discharged. Gentle pats will be delivered; thanks again.
