    Cora & J - need prayers

     Hi folks-

Some of you know my friend has a partner, Cora, who had a ruptured disc last October that caused her to be suddenly paralyzed.  Just as she was recovering from her spinal surgery, she started showing signs of some other physical ailments.  For the last 2 months, through countless tests, evaluations, consultations with vets across the country, rounds of antibiotic treatments, attempts at needle biopsies, etc... Cora has lesions on her lungs that no vet has been able to identify.  Cannot rule out cancer, cannot rule out fungal infection or some other infection.  It's all over the board with peaks and valleys of Cora's condition.  She's been battling a fever since this morning, and while her fever has come down, the vet called her owner to say she should come and see her because she's not eating and is acting lethargic.

Cora was born on the morning that J's previous partner, Jane, died suddenly of a heart attack.  Cora's existence and care helped carry J through the horrific grief of losing half her heart when Jane passed.  (Those of you who know me personally, know that Gracie's middle name is Jane, in honor of this tremendous dog.)

J will not be strong enough to function if Cora leaves us right now.  She's not quite 8, her birthday being June 29th.

Please spare a thought for Cora's wellness and J's strength if you can.  I will need some strength, too, because I live with them and will bear witness to every moment of this.  Going to see Cora after I get off work in 5 minutes.

Please let J know prayers of healing and strength are coming her way from Arkansas.  You and Gracie will also be in our hearts and thoughts.

Paige -- there's nothing to 'spare' -- there is ABUNDANCE of love, good thots & prayers.  No skimping!! pressed down and running over!  There are just times in this life when it seems like "life" developes such a tangle that you almost can't figure out how to *ask* for support because it's all just so big and so all-encompassing.    That's the place where we all just reach out our cyber arms and form a network of support.

And yes, it's time for the Candles page

Callie says it so much better than I can. Candle lit.

I lit a candle (thanks for posting the link).

Prayers from RI for Cora and J, and for you and Gracie too.  Sounds like Cora has been through so much recently, it is time for her to start healing and recover from all of this.

AMEN!  If they could only figure out what it is so her treatment can target it correctly, not potentially make it worse!

About an hour ago the call came in that Cora was much improved - ate a full meal, was barking at her caretakers, so the vets asked if J could come and get her.  HOORAY!!!  It's snowing right now, but whatever the weather, they'll be there together.  So, J & Cora will spend time doing anything Cora wants and needs for as long as that time is.  Thank goodness.

Thank you all for the prayers.  There is a calm and reassurance that can't be explained until after we go through part of a crisis, we reach out for help here, you give and in short order there's improvement.  It's like a feeling of safety that you're supported and there's an extra level of protection from the situation because of the caring prayers/thoughts/wishes that our friends here send to us.  Thank you again.

Awesome news Paige. I know how wonderful it was to bring Sassy home and how much better she did once she was back here. Even though it wasn't for too long, it meant to world to us. I know Cora and J are going to have a wonderful time being together again and I'll keep praying that they can figure out what's going on.

I missed this earlier, but I'm still sending some good thoughts for Cora, J, and the vets who can hopefully figure this all out.

She's looking better tonight than she did Fri night, but I can see her hind end isn't functioning up to par and she's weak.  If this is cancer in her neck there's nothing that can be done.

Thanks for the update -- they've been on my heart all day.

She (the DOG!) has a good friend in the form of a son of a doctor at UCLA who has offered his consultation.  We shall see if they can make some progress in diagnostics.

Continuing prayers that it's not cancer of any kind. Whatever is going on though, I'm just glad she's home for now and will continue praying for both Cora and J.
