Last night I noticed a red spot on his side. Assuming he had a thorn or a bite, I put him on his side so I could examine it without him dashing off. Instead, I found his belly had a lot of hemorrhage spots (petechiation). Today I noted several on his back as well. We don't have poison at our house at all. He has normal activity, normal eating and drinking habits. His packed cell volume is completely normal. We ran a test for Ehrlichia (thought he's never had a tick), which was negative. So, we sent out a coagulation panel, which will include a CBC and a blood smear. He's on Vitamin K for the evening and may get pred or something tomorrow. The spots have gotten bigger. The area where he had his neck draw has a huge hematoma.
It's alarming, though I'm comforted by his normal behavior. His gums have remained a normal color.
He's hanging out with me at work tomorrow so we can monitor.
Good thoughts for something that responds easily to treatment, please
