Tessy's Lymphoma relapse

The drop in platelets might be from the cancer drugs too.  Johnny, if they don't improve there is a drug they use in humans called Neumega to stop the drop in platelets and avoid the need for a transfusion-its for cancer patients.  I'm not sure if this drug is available for dogs but it might be worth it to ask about it or something like it.

That's my thinking cause she had a new drug last week known to cause myelosuppression.  I've got several doses of a platelet releasing drug I could use if they **did** remain low or continued to drop.  It's very similar to vincristine (a drug mentioned a few times in the aiha thread) called vinblastine that causes a sudden release of platelets.

Tessy's doing better today.  She picked a ball up and brought it to me when I woke up!  She hasn't done that for almost a week.  I made her a boiled egg lassdt night which she promptly ate!  I think she feels extra special now!  :)

    Thanks again guys.

I know how much that must've made you smile. I hope she continues to feel better and is well enough for the next treatment. As already said, you're one heck of a dad to her and she's a lucky girl.

I know exactly how you felt when she did that.  But, be careful with her playing you don't want her banging into anything-those platelets are a bit low.

But, to make you feel better I will say Willow survived MUCH lower platelets than this-like 12,000!

Johnny, I'm late seeing this thread -- but I'm sending good thoughts and vibes to both Tessy and you!  I hope she continues to show interest in her food (and her ball) and that she responds as well as possible to the meds/treatment.  My heart goes out to anyone supporting a dog with a serious illness.  As others said, take care of yourself as well as Tessy -- the caregiver's mental and physical health can suffer, too!

Be strong, Tessy -- and keep eating!

Tessy goes tomorrow for a combo treatment!  I'm thinking we have a 50/50 chance...maybe a little better, that this works.  I'm nervous and stressed thinking of possible outcomes.  ALL her nodes are enlarged now!

I'm worried!  Any extra vibes, prayers or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Good luck tomorrow, Tessy!  Go kick its A. . .!!  Deep breaths, Johnny!!

    Keep me posted.
