They just called. They did blood work before surgery. His kidneys are shutting down and the values have doubled since we last pulled them, they've offered to send home IV's for the weekend, but as the vet put it, "he's just not wanting to try anymore" and I agree. So it is with great sadness we will meet at the vet after school to let him go.

Oh Karen, I am so sorry. One Ton you have tried so hard for your Mom. You can rest now and go meet our sweet babies at the bridge.

Karen, you and One Ton did all that you could - as did the vet and your BF. Rest now One Ton soon you will run free and fast again!

I am so sorry. One Ton, you've tried hard and you've let everyone know it's time to go to the Bridge. I wish for you a peaceful and gentle journey. There are many friends waiting for you there. Karen, many, many hugs for you and your BF--you've done an amazing job helping One Ton try to get better. No on could have given more care or love than you've given him. (((((hugs)))))

I've been following this and thinking of you, even if I didn't post. I know we were all hoping for a healthy One Ton, but you've done so much for him, and the decision you're making is for him. He must have been really lucky to have you in his life. ((hugs))

May all our former good friends and companions sing One Ton over the bridge to the land of peace and no pain.

You all gave it your all. One Ton especially. Time to rest sweet boy. Time to rest now.

I'm so very sorry Karen. I don't think there's anything you wouldn't have done to save One Ton but prolonging his suffering wasn't one of them and I applaud you for that. I know the heaviness that your heart must feel and I wish I were close enough to give you a real hug for comfort.
