and could use some vibes or prayers...whatever comes naturally to you.
She is my 14 yr old mixed breed, blind from progressive retinal atrophy. One eye was looking strange today, she refused food, not drinking or peeing, and hiding in the bedroom. I called the on-call Vet at 1:30, and she said it sounded like it could wait until morning. By supper time, things seemed a bit worse, and I decided I didn't want to wait and have a true emergency at 2 am... So Java is spending the night and having some tests done.
Oh gosh...where to start.
Her eye first. She has a prolapsed iris, which is where the iris sticks
out from the cornea. There is treatment, but very expensive, so Dr
would rather remove the eye.
Her blood work was about the same, except higher pancreas levels, which
could be pancreatitis, which would explain why she had trouble palpating
her abdomen. And she wants to take abdominal xrays to check for cancer,
which could be causing some of her symptoms also. She also has some
enlarged lymph nodes. Full body xrays would be nice also, but expensive.
For now, we will do abdominal xrays and the pancreas test...and see from
there whether we go further or let her go. :'(
