Mom's in the hospital-Update pg 2

 Yikes! Good wishes to your mom. I have several co-workers that have had the same thing and while they had to be on meds for quite a while and were restricted a bit, they all came through it just fine. I hope the same for your mom.

Thank you, everyone! I told Mom my "dog friends" are all praying for her and sending good thoughts and she really appreciates it. She had some news this morning that was upsetting for her (and for all of us)--they've determined she also has pneumonia (4th time) and there are some other spots on the CT scan of her lungs. It's not a surprise but it is just so scary for her. She was in a good place to talk today, so we were able to talk about how she wants to handle things when she leaves the hospital. She's agreed to have someone come in and help with housecleaning (yeah!) and she made a choice about who she me wants to contact first about that. She also talked a bit about where she wants to live if/when she can't live at home.

On a positive note--she was more comfortable with her breathing today. She was sitting up in the chair (much better than the bed) and had made a list of all the doctors, nurses and CNAs who were taking care of her. (This is the Mom we know :-)  Today is her birthday so we had a little celebration, too.

Kate I am so glad your Mom is feeling better.   Happy birthday to her from Arkansas.   It is good that she is open to talking about the things none of us want to discuss with our parents or children.  It is so important, if for no other reason so that a person's children can rest easy about the decision that are made.  Healing vibes coming her way!!!

I'm sorry she's got pneumonia in addition to the other problems.   Happy Birthday wishes to her from Texas.  I'm glad she's feeling better and hope her recovery is fast.

Happy Birthday late from me too. I'm glad she's open to discussing her condition and how to deal with it. That's such a huge step and I know it must make you feel a little better. Wishing you and your mom nothing but progress in the days ahead.

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts! Mom was released from the hospital today and is now in rehab. She hasn't walked in 10 days and needs to build up some strength and muscle. We don't know how long she'll be there (a few weeks maybe?), but she was relieved to know she could get rehab before coming home to stairs, etc.

Kate, glad she is doing better.  I think its better for her to go to rehab right now anyway considering all the snow and ice we have-very dangerous walking.
