Campbell's seeing the neurologist this morning

to see what they can find out about his seizures and decide on meds!

Fingers crossed for the silly boy - he's been through a ton and still super sweet and crazy!

sending Campbell and his family good vibes.

Fingers crossed that they figure out what's going on!

Hopefully they can get this balanced out - I'm sure the wide array of meds he's on isn't helping

Oh Campbell!  Good vibes for you & your mama.

Thanks all -  well they've put him on meds and basically said it is 98% that it is NOT epilepsy.  The owner decided against the MRI etc due to cost and his heart.  I feel so sad when i talk to her about these things - she said you know he's more likely not to make 5 than he is Crying, he's two.

The other potential causes would be treated the same way so she felt that putting him on the meds was the most important part not why its occurring

Aww that's so sad.  Hopefully the meds will help!

Why did they think it wasn't epilepsy?  Are they thinking tumor or something?

Callie iirc the reasons they don't think its epilepsy are:

    not common in boxers

type of seizures and how they have changed

    no other neurological symptoms

There were a variety of potential causes - one of which was the flying leap he took off the elevated deck that landed him in IC for 3 nights - I think that was 4 months prior to the onset of seizures, they thought that was too large a gap but potentially could be the cause.

I think the owners are hoping that this med controls the seizures and reduces them in number - he goes back to the cardiologist in December.  I have a feeling that if his heart test is good (for him) they might consider further testing for a cause - but unlikely if he settles down on the meds.

Honestly they are just heartbroken about all his issues and work hard to give him a great life

Like I said -- down here they WOULD call that sort of seizure activity "epilepsy" -- essentially rarely do you know what "caused" a seizure.  You may know what triggers them but you may never be able to identify the full "cause".  And sometimes you can simply unnerve the owner to the point that they can't function.

Now it's my experience most of the bracheocephalic breeds CAN be prone to seizures and a dog that's been on that many meds (and who tends to be as rambunctious as he can be ANYWAY) may just be set up for them.

They've gotta be broken-hearted.  And like I said feel free to give them my number or email.  Just moving forward is a big deal sometimes.
