I give up - Gotta share this burden (Callie)

Had an appt for Billy and Tinker yesterday at the holistic vet.  When we were on our way out, the techs held the pups so I could go out front and pay ... they had a heartworm positive dog out there that they wanted to make sure wasn't excited.

I went thru the doors and almost burst into tears.  Rarely does a dog do THIS to me.  He was some sort of a springer/herder mix maybe -- tough to tell.  Almost no coat -- sores EVERYWHERE.  He reminded me of Muffin when we first got him where he was so infected under his coat that we had to cut that coat off almost like diseased leather.

I'm going to guess sarcops and demodex and lord knows what else -- allergy.  He had been feral and this woman found him.  I looked into his eyes and put out my hand - he looked into my eyes and started towards me ... he stopped and sniffed my hand (remember I have psoriasis and my skin on my hands is hugely red and sore).

He looked up again into my eyes and again I saw the understanding dawn ... "This lady UNDERSTANDS what it is to hurt like this -- she GETS it -- she KNOWS!"

We never said a word but as he tries to burrow his head into my hands his new owner says "Oh DEAR .. I don't know how friendly he is!!" and I looked at her with my eyes full of tears and showed her my hands and I said "he's not going to bite me -- he understands that I know what it is to hurt JUST like he does"

Lordy -- even his *** was a bloody oozy mess -- not most of his face but his eyes were sore.  I think it was sarcops and allergies probably ... just from the pattern of hair loss and scratch marks.

The girls know me, of course, and I told them that if this woman needs help to call me (and they HAVE done that before).

We can't take him ... I'm full.  But oh lordy I wanted to.  And now today my head just won't let him go. This woman is going to keep him apparently -- she's not happy about how much of a mess he is but she fell in love too.

I don't even have a name -- but just a sweet little orange and white guy.  But oh so very very sore.

David and I always say a burden shared is a burden halved.  This little guy needs all the prayers and good thots I can give him b/c that lady has not a CLUE what to do with that dog on a day to day basis.

Extra good healing vibes to that little orange and white babe.  Good fortune to him, now and in the days and years ahead for him.

Poor fella.  I hope he can be healed.  (((Callie)))

I'm sure he can be -- it just hit me with a wall of emotion like a ton of bricks.  I could ALMOST hear him think "wow--- another lady who is nice ... who'da thot!"

There are days when the world's lack of compassion just yanks my chain harder than other days .... I just wanted to help make it more "do-able" for this lady.  It's not intuitive to know how to approach stuff like that.

Prayers for the sweet orange and white dog and his lady.   I do hope she reaches out to you!  If only she knew what Tink looked like and how beautiful she is now with your loving help.

Some dogs just "get" you right in the heart.  I hope he does well and recovers from his health problems.  What a great lady to take him on.  Sending the little guy a ton of good vibes.

Healing thoughts coming from here; I hope she calls you for advice.

That poor, poor kiddo.  Healing vibes to him & strength to his new mama.  Bless her for taking him in & on.

I asked at the vet tonight -- and his name is "Brutus" -- and they really think this lady is serious about helping him.  She has already had them begin the immiticide treatment for the heartworm and she's had him to Dr. D's TWICE already (which shows some darned good commitment).  But at least I have a name to hang on him now.

Sending lots of love and healing vibes for Brutus and his new Mom. It sure does sound like she's making a commitment to the sweet guy. And, I hope she gets in touch with you, too.

Late posting to this, Callie --- I'll keep Brutus in my thoughts.  Hopefully his name is an indication of his tough spirit which can help him come through this okay.  And what good fortune his new Mom had to land in the same vet office as you (even if she doesn't realize how good that fortune is yet -- she will if she eventually comes to you for advice!).  It's a very special person who will take on the time and expense of a pet who needs so much extra care -- she's his angel!

With a name like Brutus, he just has to be tough!

We are sending good vibes out for him.

*Exactly* what I thot Amanda -- I thot of Boo immediately!

Callie, just seeing this about Brutus.  GOod thoughts coming his way!
