Just a quick update... The bone isn't involved!!

Wonderful news; I hope this is something that's easily resolved. Amanda, when I read that your surgeon was going with you to amputate his leg if it was cancer, I was really impressed. You have some awesome vets taking care of Bevo. .

    What a relief.

Agree completely.  Bevo has an entourage...how cool is that!

Can't wait to hear more about this.  Continued good thoughts!

    YAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Ok, I finally made it home.  Sorry about the lack of updates, but my phone was being a total pos today.  I still can't make or recieve calls. Huh?

The MRI shows that there is a tumor in the cartilage between two of the bones in his carpus (wrist) but the bone itself isn't involved.  That was great news.  Right now, we are waiting on opinions from two soft tissue surgeons on how to proceed.  The radiologist, & the surgeon who was with me are both concerned that removing the cartilage may cause problems, & they aren't sure exactly how to handle the surgery.

Without the other surgeon's opinions, we are leaning towards removing the tumor & affected cartilage & scraping the bone edges in order to insure that all of the cartilage is removed.  This will cause serious arthritis & Bev will have the two bones rubbing together with every step.  This is a sucky option, but if the histopath comes back ok, then we can do stem cell therapy to help with the arthritis.  If the histopath does't come back ok, then we will explore other options.

Bev is doing fine & recovering nicely from anesthesia.  He's a little sore from being stretched & twisted to get all of the shots that they wanted, but otherwise, he's fine.  He was in total goober mode this morning, which is always fun.  He even charmed a woman who "don't like those viscious dobermans" in the waiting room this morning.

Thank you all so much for the good thoughts.

Good boy, Bev!!!! I hope that the surgery is easier than expected, and that he makes a full recovery. Continued thoughts and prayers for the most handsome Doberboy around.

My word... did Bevo and Gracie have a little secret chat about joint bumps?  Reading all you're going through w/Bevo, I'm going to be super thankful that her x-rays made it clear the bone was not involved.

You KNOW you have our best wishes for a swift resolution to this.  Sending vibes for ***Good cells*** in the histology report.  How long will you have to wait for that to come back with results?

I've got one of Dr. Clemmons' articles that he gave me i oughta send you on various herbs and supplements he's found helpful -- he's SO good on Wobbler's and everything that affects it -- you can email him via the Chi Institute if you want -- his surgical expertise is neuro but everything about Bevo is colored by the Wobbler's and I know he'd be darned good help if anyone wanted.

Sounds like you've got superb input there -- and man, I've been thinking good thots and lifting you up ALL day as well.  *hugs* and scritches to Bev!!

How is Bevo feeling today?  He must be so tired after his long day yesterday.

Poor bevo. I'm still thinking of you guys!

Thanks again for all of the good thoughts.

I know that the sample slides arrived to the lab last night because I had them couriered over.  I am hoping that they will be set up & read on Tuesday.

We have heard back from both of the soft tissue surgeons & they both agree with the surgical approach that was proposed, pending lab results.  So for now, we wait until the lab tells us what we are dealing with.

Bev is feeling fine today.  He's been a royal pita today.  (Which is one of the 1,000,000,000 reasons that I love him!)  He's been causing trouble & into everything.  He was just masked down & then intubated for the MRI & that decision by the radiologist was a fantastic one.  He came up much easier than normal, & he hasn't been tired & draggy all day like he usually is after anesthesia.
