One last x-ray to rule out any obvious metastasized cancer, then on to surgery to explore his gallbladder and bile duct. I'm praying that it's structural and they can fix it...very worried about my good boy. He lost 5 pounds this week, and is still icteric and depressed, but a perennially great dog - so willing to let them do anything they need to do.
Well, they got in there and found a large mass in his pancreas. Apparently, it never showed on ultrasound because of his conformation - very deep chested. It's almost certainly adenocarcinoma, which would kill him in a couple of months or less anyway. Biopsy done on the off chance that it's benign, but apparently it looked pretty ugly. So, biopsy comes back at ten in the am, and if it confirms the cancer, he will go in to Mike's loving arms in the spirit land tomorrow on the lawn with me hugging him on his way to the Bridge... I am devastated. He's been the best boy ever.
