Here we go again! DH has a meeting tomorrow; they find out what the company is proposing. They vote next week Tuesday.

Prayers and good thots STILL for you ... it's so hard to decide to make a change at a time like this economically.  Even when you know something is looming over your head.

Thanks everyone. Basically it's what they thought. Whatever they vote in won't take effect until Feb 2012. Either they vote it down and shut down the plant, or they take it in the *** with huge job/pay/benefit cuts. They want to eliminate a bunch of employees, and hire a "casual workforce." No guaranteed hours, no benefits, no vacation, no union voting rights (but you still have to pay dues!), etc. They call you when they need you. Could be a month or two of work for a while, then no work for who knows how long, then work for a week or so... Rediculous. Either way he's out of a job. Sooooooo... I guess at least we have a timeline now. :\

Awwww, Jano, that bites the big one.  If you have to move, PA is nice.  :)  I wish I had great words of hope but I'm short of them today.  ((HUGS))

I'm so sorry Jan.  You know I know things are bad in most places...but I hate the way many of these companies are taking advantage of it and doing rotton things.  I read a  few times too that some companies are doing a whole lot better the past few months and are still NOT hiring..or giving some of the benefits back.   My son Ron just lost his job after the July 4th holiday. The company kept downsizing...and worse was that Ron was the one that had to do the dirty work....do the laying off and walking out of the place ( I HATE the way they do that.)   Well. he went back to work after the holiday and HR was there....he knew what was happening when he saw them there because he always knew when they were coming before that.... I guess when they ran out of people for Ron to lay off....they layed him off.   The good news is.............he found another job 2 weeks later...and started Aug. 30.  Sign of hope!   And hope for you guys too!
