Prayers for Jezzy

    Prayers for Jezzy

and for me. She's having a dental tomorrow morning. To say that I'm scared to death is an understatement. She's my baby girl, and I've heard too many horror stories of Min Pins and dentals to treat this as routine. We are doing the pre-op bloodwork and they are going to just gas her down instead of using a sedative, so hopefully she won't have any problems like she did with the Ace. I would appreciate your prayers for an easy, safe procedure. And calm nerves for me!

*most* of the time when there is a problem it is because of a reaction between the anesthesia and the sedative.  By elminating the sedative and JUST masking her down, the vet is making it as easy as possible.  My vet does this for mine routinely -- and frankly, it takes some trust on the vet's part that he feels he can control the dog and not have it freak out as  it's going under.  that can be a 'scarey' feeling (for man or beast) which is why the anesthesia/sedative combo is so routinely used.

shows, to me at least, that your vet is being as careful as they can be -- which should make you feel better!!  Will keep her in my prayers and good thots tho!!

Jezzy is my girl that is very allergic to bee stings. Has had every reaction under the sun to her vaccinations, and when we had to administer Ace for an ear check - lets just say - it didn't go very well. She's needed a dental for awhile, but I just had a gut feeling about our old vet back home to not let him do it. I've learned to listen to those gut feelings.

When we met with our new vet and he heard everything about Jezzy, he said that they had a cage that allowed them to gas them down without having to sedate them first. I feel good about him, but I'm still scared spitless. I've tried brushing her teeth and doing the Petzlife tooth gel, but nothing is putting a dent on that tartar. Hopefully, after tomorrow her little mouth won't be so red and she'll feel better. I was going to take her to a specialist in August, but life exploded with the job/move and then the hurricane, and to be truthful, I've been scared to schedule it.

I really appreciate everyone's prayers! I don't post much, but I lurk and read the boards. I really appreciate this community more than you'll know!

Just an update on Jezzy's dental. Poor baby had to go basically 24 hours between meals due to an emergency c-section and a cow with a prolapsed uterus. They didn't get to her until after lunch, but she came through with no problems. I got to pick her up at 5 pm and she gets to eat canned food for a few days. She has nice shiny white teeth now! Minus two. Turns out, the baby teeth extraction surgery she had done in 2005 wasn't done right. They pulled two BABY teeth!!!!!!!!!! She's 4 1/2 years old for Pete's sake! I knew I didn't like Dr. M for one reason, well, he just added a few more! I can't believe he didn't get the two bottom incisors. I've always wondered about her bottom jaw looking so crowded, but she's a small dog and I figured she just had too many adult teeth in her little mouth. Nope!

But thank you so much for your prayers! She was nice and calm all day. No panting hysterics. No fits. And no nerves on my part (well, maybe just a few). I really like our new vet's office!!! God Bless all of you. Jezzy says "thank you!"
