Prayers Welcome

Thanks.  He threw his call button thingy across the room last night because they don't answer as fast there...Confused  They probably didn't like it, but it made me think that some of the strength is coming back to his arms.  I know he'll feel better today when I tell him that his doc wanted me to make an appointment for him with the hepatologist for 5-6 weeks from now:-))  Fingers crossed (and I think from now on, I'll remember to duck if I tick him off LOL)  Actually, he called me at 3 A.M. because he was worried - and he told me that it always makes him feel better when I explain things to him, or spend the time to talk to him about what's going on.  Even as diminished as he is, I'm still his rock, and he's still mine.  To me, he'll never be anything but that handsome, big, strong guy who took my breath away with his smile.  Fingers crossed and thankful for all your prayers and good vibes.

I also will be praying for you both, though mine come late. My thoughts are with you and your family and I hope that he continues on his current healing path. As to donor status.....I have been one since the age of 17 as well and my family is well aware that if they fight it I will haunt them.

Great news that he's in rehab and getting his strength back Big Smile

You're definitely his rock and he's blessed to have you. I'll continue to keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Wonderful news, Anne.  It seems like he's turned a major corner.

My father was a fragile and frail man with a heart problem for most of his life.  In and out hospitals for much of my life.  But..  once he started throwing things we knew he was on the road to recovery and coming around!

Good news if you ask me.  Yes Prayers as always Anne!

Anne, I'm glad to read that Mike is in rehab.  That's a major step of improvement.  Both of you have attitudes that are positive, and your relationship is yet another plus that will play a big role in his continued recovery.  Who'd have thought that throwing things would be an action to be celebrated?! Smile

It's been baby steps but he's come a long way since he went into the hospital. The rehab will definitely help; it will relieve some of the boredom and give him hope. You are such a balanced person and a true blessing to Mike; I'll keep praying.

When I was a *kid* and home sick, the day I started getting crabby my mother would announce "YOU are going back to school tomorrow -- YOU are obviously feeling better!!" LOL

    Hugs to both of you!

I just know that the idog prayers and vibes are helping.  Mike is now up and using a walker - said he walked 127 steps yesterday (but who's counting?) with only one assistant.  When I visited him yesterday, he looked a lot brighter, and he is still very determined to come home.  His doctor (not the one at the rehab, the one we love who never gives up on him) called yesterday to double check that I was able to get an appt. for Mike with the liver doc.  And, he told me that he is confident Mike will be able to make it back home this time.  It just might take a few weeks.  Can't happen too soon for me.  Not to scare you all, but some of these facilities really suck in many ways... although this one has good physical therapy and good food service, the basic daily care is not so good.  I had to discover the beginnings of a bed sore before anyone addressed it (*sigh*)

Yes, I found that out when my dad was in one after breaking his leg. Not the best place to get well but it sounds like Mike is determined and with you watching over him, he's in good hands. He's made amazing progress, especially considering how dismal things seemed in the beginning. I hope it continues in this direction and he's home again soon.
