Daisy needs prayers and good thoughts please (Callie)

I just heard from Ellie today:

    Hi,

The good news is Daisy comes home tonight!

She is doing great. Dr. Kennedy tends to be very cautious in his prognostications, and he says the surgery turned out, and is healing, "far better than he ever would have predicted." I told him he appears to have been given the job of producing miracles for the animals I
have been given the job of finding.

The tough part is going to be the crate rest. It's very important that she not tear her pins apart. She is still growing so the pins will just grow into her bones and disappear.

But of course, she is a puppy so as soon as it doesn't hurt so much, she wants to play play PLAY! They tell me she is already doing things like tossing her blankie in the air and trying to get the staff to play
    tug with her.

Please, tell your folks on the other board a big THANK YOU for good thoughts and prayers.

It does matter, I am totally sure. When I hear doctors say things like,
"wow, this outcome is so much better than it had any right to be", I know we've had a little help!

Rah -- I LOVE updates like that!!!

Ahhh, that's wonderful news and I know that when Sassy's feeling her best, she loves to toss her blankie (or toys) in the air too. What a happy mental picture to have.  I hope she continues to make great progress.

    Great news!

I just got an email this morning from Ellie (and I suspect we may see HER here soon -- she's sooooo thrilled folks have been so nice!!!).  She got to bring her home last night:

"Gosh, what great folks! what a NICE board!

Daisy is doing fine at home. SHe is still taking some
pain meds but is eating everything within reach and is
    in good spirits.

When I picked her up last night, everyone had to come
out and pet her. She left with her own new blanket,
toys, and a bag of treats, gifts from the staff.
SHe's never had stuff before and you could see how
proud she is of her toys. Dr. Kennedy has a brisk,
    no-nonsense, just-the-facts manner that belies a very
kind heart. He said "just let us know if you need
anything for her. We've all got a lot of emotional
    investment in her."

He added, wiping his glasses, "You
know, you've brought me a long line of animals, each
of whom had really lousy chances or no chance at all.
There was Maddie, that Rott pup with parvo, and Tyson
the himalayan who was basically dead of hemobartonella
and came back to life, and Lucy with liver
failure...and Alice. You keep insisting they need a
chance and God has a purpose for them. I'm forced to
the conclusion that you are right. Providence is at
work here, because there's no way all these animals
made it JUST because of the care they got." He gave me
a shaky grin and a huge bear hug. "Just keep taking
care of the babies. You find 'em, I'll fix 'em. Next
time, I won't even mention euthanasia, I'll just get
    to work!"

We did in fact luck out. This guy is a superb vet, no
question. and there's no question at all that these
animals have touched him and his colleagues in a very
special way. Funny how things work....
    hugs and scritches,
    Ellie

I'm late seeing this thread, Callie.  Wow . . . . you've shared a story that introduces us to TWO angels on earth - your wonderful friend and her equally amazing vet.  I'm so glad that Daisy has made such progress, and I'll continue to hope that she's well on her way to a loving home and well-deserved happy life!

P.S. - I agree with Glenda that reading your posts almost always bring tears to my eyes!
