Missing Dog

    • Gold Top Dog
So far no news. I did have a young girl (probably 11 - 14) call me and say that she would keep an eye out. Then a guy called to say he had found the dog and taken it to the shelter a couple of weeks ago (a different dog since Casper has not been missing that long).

I am just trying to stay on top of everything and keep my hopes up. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

Fizzl- You can PM me exactly where in Dallas you live. Is it in Dallas County per say? Because Dallas has 2-3 shelters. I can post to my rescue group about him. Let me know his info- breed, weight, place where last seen, neutered/unneutered, etc.

    Fizz,
Humor me and go look at that dog the guy called about. Remember I said some peoples preceptions of color, time etc are different than yours. The fella may have his dates wrong. You never know. PLEASE I BEG you to GO LOOK. Even if it is not and you think it is not Casper, do yourself a favor and look anyway to rule out in your mind for sure that it is NOT him.
Please contact Laura with your information.
Keep looking, NEVER give up. We are your support system and will continue trying to help you miles from where you are.

Just an update: still no news - keeping my hopes up. Have been really busy with my dad in the hospital this last week (he is out now and doing ok). But I keep calling the shelters and HS.

Carrie please go look at those shelters instead of just making a call. I beg of you. PLEASE!

Hang in there honey I know it is hard. My prayers are still going out for you and his safe return.

I do go look...but I still call daily too. I figure it can't hurt. I rec'd a call last week someone had found a bichon but it wasn't Casper. Just got a call this morning. Someone had called into the local shelter to say they found a bichon a week ago sunday. The shelter called me because they have my lost dog report and gave me the lady's number. I have left her a message. Will call again around lunch time and again after work hours if I haven't heard from her. My boss knows that if I get a call and need to leave to go see if it is him that I am leaving no questions asked. Thankfully he is ok with that.

The most local shelters are very very small, one person works the whole day in the office and then there is the AC officer that patrols the streets. So it is pretty easy for them to tell me if a white dog has been brought in. I trust them to tell me (I do still go there and look tho, just because it never hurts)

Edited to add: I really thought that I had said before that I was going to the shelters to look but I just read back through the posts and realize that I did not make that clear. Sorry.

Well I left 2 messages for the lady yesterday, finally someone called me back around 6pm and she said I had the wrong number. I called the shelter again and they really weren't any help. The number I called was what they had written down, so either the shelter lady wrote it down wrong or the caller gave the wrong number. Either way, they had an idea of where the lady picked the dog up at so I am headed out to that area to put up posters tonight. It is in the next town over, which is quite a distance (on the other side of the lake). Adds are in the paper there as well.

Just seems crazy that she claims to have had him since the 14th but made no effort to call the shelter or take him in to get scanned for a chip etc.  I am just really glad that the shelter is keeping up with my information, guess they kinda have to with me calling and stopping by so often.

I am keeping my fingers crossed and good thoughts that this is him and I will get him back.

Fizzl, sometimes people do strange things or make bad decisions and choices. Sounds to me like at first maybe they were interested in the reward monies and may have found out what it *is* and decided they may just keep the dog instead. I pray it isn't that way. Also watch out for scams. Believe it or not people *sick* at that, will try to scam you for your own dog to make a profit and they may or may not have your dog. Just becareful. You might want to start a call log to try to keep track of who called and why, just in case you may need to contact them back again.
Keep on plugging away. I am praying for a happy reunion myself.
    Hugs.
