good thoughts for my neighbor's golden (kpwlee)

I've had a couple of dogs with arthritis and found Glycoflex to be a real help.  It is available in 3 different strengths, and your neighbor's Golden may need the strongest one.  Here's hoping that he keeps on recovering!

Bless his heart.  I sure do understand.  Wishing Cody well.

Good thing they found a treatment that makes Cody more comfortable. The less pain he is in the more enclined he will be to exercise which will help him get some muscles back in his legs and feel better. To my knowledge, Tramadol is something that may be continued long term without adverse effects or later on, used on a as-needed basis.

I agree that supplements might help him also : body fish oil, chondroitin/glucosamin/MSM (lots of choice for those). If you want to share with Cody's owners, this link has all sorts of suggestions to alleviate arthritis : http://www.dogaware.com/health/arthritis.html

His back legs have definitely atrophied so I hope he gets well enough to get his walking in

Karen, have you talked to Cody's humans about  hydrotherapy?  Might be just the thing to keep him moving and build up his legs again.

Thanks all. He gets oodles of supplements and has for several years. Jackie they tried hydrotherapy after his tplo and he freaked, his mama is home now so I'll speak to her and see if she is willing to try again. He was in his flower bed this morning just hanging out :). Bugsy and I stopped to say hi and he wagged but didn't get up :(
