I'm so thrilled to read that Spike has been found.  The blog entry had me in tears.  It doesn't sound like he would have lasted much longer.

Late as usual.  I'm so thrilled that Spike was found.  I worry so when a bully is lost.  Thank doG he was found & is safe.  I'm all out of tears but I know if I had any left I'd certainly be crying tears of joy for this loved boy.

Thanks everyone for sharing in the celebration.  Here is an update from the volunteer's blog as of late Wednesday evening:

Spike is doing very well! He remains under the vet's care, but today's report is that he is bouncing back to being his old self. He wants to play, is eating everything in sight, and has become a favorite of the office staff. He even got to roam around the office today. He will soon be released to be boarded until next Wednesday when Elizabeth will pick him up and take him to his forever home in Washington. Spike's story is remarkable in many ways. The phrase that keeps going through my mind, given the caring and determination of so many is, "for the love of a shelter dog."

I'm really hoping the blog will have a photo of him with his new family soon!

Speaking of photos -- a P.S. to Janice:  I still don't know how to post them!  Embarrassed  The photo in my earlier post was already uploaded in the volunteer's blog -- I just highlighted and pasted it into my post.  I've got to get with the program one of these days and figure out how to post photos "from scratch!"

Note:  Edited with the blog update on Thursday morning.

Okay, I tried to copy and paste the photos from the volunteer's blog, like I did in the earlier post, but it won't work tonight!  So, I'll have to just put the link here instead.  I'm sorry I'm so UN-tech-savvy!

(you'll have to click on the entry for October 20th -- the beginning of the entry is about Spike)

I learned that Elizabeth wanted to adopt Spike all along -- she used to take him on overnight respites when he was at the shelter -- but she didn't have dog-friendly housing.  She finally found a place where she could have Spike just as he escaped from the rescue facility he'd been transferred to.  Well, after some time recovering at the vet's and staying with Elizabeth's sister for a few days, Spike was finally able to go home with her for good.  I've seen the photos over a dozen times, and they still make me tear up.  You can see how happy both of them are to be together again.

You can almost feel the love just ooze between those two, can't you?? What a HAPPY story!
