Just got back from the vet, again.
When I checked it this morning, the raw looking spot was about the size of a dime, with no skin or pad on it at all, it was just open flesh hanging out, and it was bleeding and oozing much more than last night. Called the vet and explained what happend, the receptionist lady tried to tell me I had to wait for a apointment on friday, so I asked to talk to the vet(the one that did his surgery) and when I talked to her she said that he needs to come in right away, and we got an apointment for 9:30 this morning.
She said it looked like he was having a bad reaction to the stitches. It was kind of like, instead of the skin growing and healing around the stitches, the skin was trying to push the stitches out.
So she gave me the options of putting him under again so they could restitch it, and even then he might still have a bad reaction to them again, or they could take them out and let it heal on its own, I would just have to keep it really clean and wrapped.
We decided to remove the stitches, cause it seemed like the best option for him. They put some gel like stuff on his paw to numb it, & removed the stitches. He was laying down on the table with 4 people holding him down. He was actually REALLY good, I was feeding him freeze dried liver the whole time, and they really didnt need to actualy hold him down that much. They only had to restrain his back leg that was being working on cause he kept trying to kick her with it lol.
I have to wash it every day till it stops oozing, and put some antibiotic ointment on it. I have to pack it with sterile gauze pads, so that it is really padded so when he walks he wont put as much pressure on it and his toes wont spread out all the way and stretch the skin. She also gave me more oral antibiotic for him for another week. She said that after it stops oozing in a few days, it would be best to keep it unwrapped as much as possible without him licking it, so I just got the ecollar anyways. I might try and go to a petco(there arnt any close by, or I would have just got one there to begin with) and get the tube-like ecollar instead cause he was terrfied of the cone one.
