    Marking problem

Rudy is a 4 yr old male neutered poodle. He pees on command outside and I always make sure he goes before I bring him in. But even doing this he will wander away in the house and lift his leg on something. usually its plastic and in the kitchen like a grocery bag left on the floor, the vacuum, a 24 pack of water bottles......  I've tried everything. He gets plenty of exercise and much love and affection. We have a female rescue big shepherd lab mix who is perfectly house trained.  Rudy just seems to do this in defiance!

any ideas as to a solution to make him stop this behavior? its not like he HAS to go potty, he just wants to leave his mark. He knows what he's done and soon as I walk into the kitchen and see it he knows HE did it, so the old saw about how they forget within 4 seconds doesn't hold either.

have you tried a belly band?

I had tried it and he just pees in it. Then I found out how bad they were for the dog's health and quit using it.

Why is a belly band bad for a dog's health? It saves your furniture and sanity!

Well... that's kinda the point Wink

They learn that lifting their leg does not leave their sent in the house - and after a while they quit doing it. Obviously - you don't want to leave it on long enough to cause a health problem - the pad should be changed frequently and many people have two so they can rotate through the wash

Yep, I hate to say it, but I would just manage it. Try to keep the plastic stuff put up the best you can, and live with it...then again, I've tolerated baby gates up for 6 months straight, before, LOL.

I have a minpin who has been an intermittent marker. I put the belly band on him for a few weeks, he figuresout that he's not actually markng anything and he stops. It's been a few months now (knock wood) and he has not marked indoors in a long time.
