Do your dogs....make you laugh?

Gaia also likes to "trick" Xerxes when he's got a toy that she wants. She'll come over to me and start loving on me which gets Xerxes interested in coming over...he does and she takes the toy. Then he gets frustrated with her and she gives him this look that is priceless. It says "you shouldn't have been so gullible...so HA!"

[sm=biggrin.gif] I love when the females do this...it is so darn funny to watch them manipulate the boys.  Just like your sighthounds, my female rules the house too!  I also adore the playbow antics when they think it is walking time.... very funny indeed, what goofy doggies!

Not that I'm aware of.  If I've got the time I could transcribe it, though I don't want to get into any copyright issues here.

No problem, just tell me about it sometimes..I am curious as to what it said since you and I have had discussions about this very topic before...

My dogs make me laugh all the time. Lots of different reasons. But lately our puppy Teddi she does the most. First of all regular silly puppy stuff, but she is a talker. She doesn't necessarily bark, though she does bark at Belle when they are playing. She talks, she makes all sorts of noises she will harumph when she is disgusted, she will even talk back when you tell her no. I know that is human interperatation, but the sound and timing are excellent on her part. I figure she will grow out of part of it but it is too funny.

When Grace wants my attention, she comes and sits with her back to me and then turns her head upside down and looks in my eyes and smiles.  It's especially funny because her flew flop open!  [:)]

Grady is just a clown.  My favorite story to date is one night I was really upset & was crying.  Grady rested his head on my knee & was looking up @ me.  Next thing I know he turns his head away from me & looks back @ me & he's got a pretty goofy snaggle tooth going on.  I cracked a smile.  He turned away again & looked back @ me.  His face was normal.  One more time he looks away & looks back @ me with a different snaggle tooth.  I swear he was trying to get me to laugh.

Zeus spends 99% of his time trying to look dignified.  But sometimes he loses it and gets too happy.

Which means about 10 laps around the house at 90 miles an hour.

    Then he gets embarrassed.

I have a couple pretty serious dogs. I laugh at them all the time, but rarely with them.

The exception is Conrad at the dog park. He morphs into this ridiculous clown and bounds and prances around with this huge smile on his face. But normally, he's incredibly dignified, or he tries very hard to be (which is a source of amusement on it's own).

Penny's favourite trick to make people laugh is belly flops into the bean bag. The more we laugh at her, the more daring she gets with her belly flops, until she's making huge, flying leaps into the bean bag and deliberately holding her legs out so she lands on her belly and not her legs. Never fails to crack people up.

Sometimes she does silly things, like walking into something or tripping over, and she looks up at me with this grin that says "that was dumb, huh?".

Jill knows just how to get Pyry to chase her around the backyard at warp speed. This morning she pounced on him when he was minding his own business, which resulted in Pyry launching after her at full speed, barking "You're so dead, Jill!". Jill has also discovered that stealing Pyry's prey before he's worked up the courage to kill it is a whole lot of fun. He has this thing for frogs. He knows they're a small animal and feels like he should do something with them, but doesn't like their cold, wet skin. So he just stands there and barks at them, poking them with his nose, barking again. One night Jill came over to see what he was on about and stole the frog. I felt bad for the poor frog, but it was so hilarious seeing Jill teasing Pyry with frog legs dangling out of either side of her mouth. Jill doesn't appreciate the difference between prey and toys. Again, much roaring around the backyard barking in frustration ensued. Poor froggy.

Sometimes I laugh so much my sides hurt.  The laughter isn't necessarily because of a behavior - playing with Prancer and being part of each others worlds is enough.  How can you NOT laugh when you have a 12 lb poodle mix with a fuzzy toy that's almost as big as she is jumping into your lap so she can play with her toy AND be with you at the same time ?

Daisy loves to hump copper yea it should be the other way around but it's not and it's so funny because copper is a little fatty who tries to roll over but takes a few times for him to finally get up, lucky we call her the circus dog she loves to jump and twist her body funniest thing, she also loves to come into the bathroom the second i turn to close the bathroom door she's poking her noise to get in, so i say oh come on in and say to her do i follow you when your doing your business. Copper cracks me up because i shake my foot while sitting on the couch he'll come crawling on the floor inch by inch until he reaches my foot and then start to hit my foot with his paw we do this for a little while Princess makes me laugh when i lock her out of my room and all i hear is her hitting the door knob with her nose as im trying to sleep or her slapping the door with her body, then finally i get up and tell her come on and she runs straight onto the bed and lays her head on my pillow.

Same here! First it was just my cat stalking me in the bathroom and now that I have a dog he does it too. My dog even lays on the bathmat while I'm in the shower while the cat peeks around the curtain to see if I'm still there. I guess they think I have a secret doorway in the shower and I'm going to leave without them.

ha, xerxes, varitek does the SAME THING- especially if he sees my running shoes- play bow, wag-city etc, except he runs and finds his leash, wherever it may be, and drags it around, showing it to me.  then after we leash up, he'll pick the leash up off the ground and walk himself around.  or, if she's really lucky, he'll accidentally pick up rosie's leash and drag her around showing her to me.... [sm=biggrin.gif]

I think my dog laughs at me at least as much as I laugh at her.

Winnie cracks me up in the morning when we give her dry kibble.  She plays with it.  She'll take pieces and toss them across the floor and chase them, or she tosses them into the air and tries to catch them.  Sometimes she buries them in her blankets and then "digs" them out.  She loves it if we join in - we play "soccer" with the kibble, I'll slide it across to her, and she'll paw it and slide it back to me.

And she deliberately teases Petey.  She'll steal his ball or his rope and take it just a few feet away and drop it and crouch down waiting for him to make his move.  When, of course, he does, she grabs it and bolts and we have dog races in the backyard, with him running flat out trying to catch her, which never happens.  It's so funny to see them chasing each other in a giant circle, but it's especially laughable now that Petey has figured out short-cuts to try and cut her off.  A few times, she's circled the tree to find him waiting and she's jumped over him.
