Do you insist that your dog do what they have been asked or are you open to compromises or non-compliance?
What is the REAL answer to this? As with kids growing up...can you ask them to do something that you ask and let them get away with not doing it?
To begin with.. other then training.. if I ask them to do something its because I want it done for a reason.
Gibby is a hard one. He too often runs when he sees any of his collars.... and he LIKES to go for a walk. Most of the time he will be waiting or scratching by the door asking to go out...so why dodge the collar? He has several of them and I will put on one or the other.
Gibby also will talk a lot while you asking him to do something. Even sit. IF you have a treat,,,he sits right away..if not you have to listen to him "talking", backing up.... turning around. etc etc etc. Yesteday he backed up all the way to the steps...then backed UP the steps until his butt sat on the third step and his feet were on the bottom. IT was funny, I must admit.
