Thanks for posting this.  I'd say their feelings pretty well sum up my own about CM.

    Amen to that.

I dont see any complains from the people he ACTUALLY helped

    • Gold Top Dog

I don't think that anyone is disputing that he does help some dogs.  I do however think that we are all agreeing that there is the POTENTIAL for some long term damage.

I didn't even get to see the video but just the words, "turning dogs into ticking time bombs" turns me off.  Are they trying to scare people??  I left a trainer who tried to do that to me.

There was a lawsuit brought by a client of CM against him. His dog was injured or died on the infamous treadmill, following the exercise solves all credo. When you go as far as a lawsuit, that sounds like a complaint, to me.

IMHO, if other trainers and organisations are accusing you of strangling a dog, your argument should be better than "that's their opinion".  There should be some evidence as to why, according to him, that opinion is wrong.

     (emphasis added)

Emphasis added indeed, thats how rumors start, for lack of information stuff is added without confirming first. If you get all the info correctly, the dude borrowed a treadmill from CM to exercise his dog at his facility. "Wait a second, CM makes money, i sue him, i get money"

Please indicate at what minute/second in the video he indicated their opinion was wrong. I'm sorry i think i missed it. "That's their opinion" and "that opinion is wrong" are 2 way different things, am i right?

The report indicates a dog that was "subdued by a shock collar", proof of incorrect info and just trying to get the "panic message" to the viewers. In that episode CM never used a shock collar, he has only used it once on a heeler chasing tractor tires. The credibility of the reporter is below ground level.

IMHO other trainers and organizations accusing him of doing what they think he is doing should get back to work and spend less time talking bad about others. CM never talks bad if you decide to do something different, good for him, less negative energy in the world

There wasn't, and that is my point.  If he disagrees, he should say WHY he disagrees.   That would add to his credibility.

So it wasn't his method perse but a treadmill that caused the death of animal. I put my dogs on the treadmill when the weather is terrible. I guess I am bad trainer. I'll research all methods at times even positive methods will not work I even witnessed some notable trainers using a different approach which wasn't positive with troubled dogs so I guess they are bad trainers too?

Give me a *content removed, language/tone* break. Please don't take this as a personal attack. Do what works for you and your dog(s). Some find anything wrong with any popular personality to find something to ridicule them like CM and VS. Why don't you one of host your own and show and lets see if we can find faults. *content removed, language/tone*

I don't have cable so I've only seen a few cesar episodes and wasn't impressed.  However, those two dogs they showed in the clip made me sick.  I could never sit and watch someone do that to my dog, no matter the problem.  To watch my dog get zapped so much that it bites me or held up on it's leash...no thanks.  I could barely watch that with strangers dogs let alone my own.

Methinks you are taking this a little too personally. I did not say that the use of the treadmill caused the death of the dog. I was relating a story about a complaint from one of CM's clients against him and whether that complaint is founded or not, is beyond my judgement or knowledge.

Personally, though, I would rather train my dog to be calm around others than to rely on sheer exhaustion from exercise to solve behavioral problems. But I can see where treadmills are a great alternative for exercise during inclement weather. And I am sure that is how you use your treadmill and I don't think my earlier statements implied that you were a bad owner. That is, I wasn't linking you to any judgement against CM. I hope that you won't make that link, either.

As for me hosting a show, we've already talked about that in the Victoria Stilwell thread. I already have the poncho. I just have to get some high heels. Imagine me at La Prada. "Do you have these in 13 wide? (my actual shoe size)"

This discussion, this jumping to defense of someone's hero, this is why some of us feel that CM has a cult like following.

Why, anytime someone says anything even slightly negative about CM do his followers feel the need to jump to his defense?  Or worse, start picking on a +R trainer and say how wrong THAT person is?

Why the heck can't the folks who don't like/are concerned about, or whatever, CM's methods just discuss that without having his followers jump to his defense?  If he needs defending, well, by golly, let HIM join the forum and defend himself.  Or let us talk.
