Our Quinn is a big barker. In field work it is IMPERATIVE the dogs run silent. So we were told very early to get her a bark collar. You do want the ones triggered by the bark itself. If you use a remote one, by the time you have hit the button, you are correcting perhaps the non bark timing and timing is everything. What size you need for your dog, that I can not answer, they do have collars for smaller dogs. I got my collar at Cabela's, it is by Sport Dog, it is rechargeable, and it increases in intensity if your dog does not stop barking. Now if we put it on Quinn, she does not start barking.
She also doesn't need it at events, or new places as she used to she knows she is not to bark. Barking for a performance dog can be so frustrating. In 2008 I wouldn't have had an answer. A lot of people do not realize how barking first wears the dog down, and also completely reduces their brain to mush. I am getting into conversations with dock jumping folk. I am getting I don't care for the events because handlers just leave their dogs barking their fool heads off in their crates thinking no one cares... I CARE!!! I hate the noise. My dogs do not bark, and if they do the collar goes on. I would rather they relax in their crates. These folks don't even cover them. One woman's dog started barking I asked if I could cover it (she had a cover) she said sure but it won't stop it. It did.
I do know if you go to sites like TriTronic, Innotek, SportDog you may find less intense collars that may help your dog. Often after a few days you don't need it as much. Good luck.
