    Ena has a new trick

So... Ena will be 8 months old on Friday. She's pretty wildWink We have a lot of fun together, every day. Part of our routine is an off leash romp in the unfenced part of our yard. Emma swims for sticks and her Kool Kong, and Ena just runs around and acts like a psycho. She does zoomies, and catches grasshoppers, and chases Emma, and carries sticks around, and just... is a dog.

A couple of days ago, she was flying past me, and she slammed the back of my knees. Of course, I wasn't expecting it, and fell over. She ran out in front of me, barked a few times, and took off running. I was laughing the whole time, and considered it accidental. Today, she did it again. I think she thinks it's FUNNY! Anyhow, it's not a problem for her to knock me over, and now I'm expecting it. I can always call her away if she tries to slam somebody else. I just thought it was pretty amusing that my little, 11 lb baby is into knocking over full sized humans. I remember Becca saying Zhi likes to knock people over, so I thought maybe it's a Crested thing.

    Aren't they HYSTERICAL??

I love it when a dog uses its sense of humor.  I try hard to get Luna and Tink to "play" and let off steam when I get home.  But some days they just go outside and are SOOOOOOOO sedate.

Then me, from my little seat on a cypress rocker bench I have outside -- *I* will suddenly look one of them in the eye and roar "PLAY BOW!!!!" and *I* will bend over at the waist and touch the ground in front of me.

The first time I did it, LUNA looked at me like "WHOA ... **YOU** know that game?  How kewel!!!" She started to run at me, suddenly thot better and stopped and lost confidence that I truly DID understand 'play bow' (which of course dogs just DO, don't name).

I got up, walked over to her, and again did my clumsey human immitation and roared "PLAY BOW" and gave her a shove and the fun was on!!!

Now I can actually initiate play with them -- they'll then play with each other, but they truly think it is SOOO kewel that Mom unnerstands "dog".  They're gentle with me (cos they know I'd break easily) but all 3 - Billy, Luna and Tink think this is tons and oodles of fun.

Oh you've gotta try and get a video of her knocking you over. I think thats hilarious!

do any of you chase your dogs? Rory get so excited when I chase her, she's like a puppy all over again! I stalk her too, she loves it!

i do! we chase each other around the yard.. i stomp on the ground and run towards him and he takes off, then i run on the opposite direction and hide behind a tree.. a few seconds later i hear him tearing apart the yard trying to find me, as i move around and around the tree so he won't see me. its hilarious.

I do let them chase me, but I don't ever chase them. The psycho Crestie puppy wants to be chased, too much, and we're working hard on staying with mom. She's smart as a whip, and has a HUGE sense of humor! Both of my dogs are clowns, and I love every minute of it.

Consider yourself lucky that she's a Crested.  You haven't been poked until an Aussie does it.  Think cattle LOL.  I had to teach her very young not to herd the humans...  But, to be honest, I did think it was funny for a second.

    Big Smile

My dogs like to jump and push off me when we are playing, and do the spin thing - just like on the vid of Sequoyah and MowMow, for those of you who saw that.  But, they have an off switch, so I'm not caught off guard in my Sunday-go-to-meetin' clothes. I've tried all kinds of "dog language" on them, and most times they DO understand.  They must think of me the same way that English speakers thing of a French person trying to speak our language using a translation guide with no idea of our colloquialisms.

    • Gold Top Dog

Ena does that, too, Anne. She pounds the front of me, and spins wildly. She's figured out that "enough" means I'm done with that game. She doesn't have an off switch, yet, but it'll come, LOL.

Zhi and Ena seriously must be closely related.  Zhi does that trick too and it's so unexpected when an 8-pound dog has the ability to knock the feet out from under a 180-pound (okay, currently closer to 190) woman!  It's like she knows exactly where to hit.  What a wacky talent.

Zhi swims, too, so maybe Ena will start following Emma into the water eventually.  It took Zhi quite a while to get comfortable doing it.  But, you might not want that since it really messes up her furnishings.  She has serious breakage on her little booties.  :P

Yeah, Ena LOVES to swim. I had to stop letting her, at the beach. It breaks her socks soooo bad. I just make land more funWink No big deal. I have a pocket full of treats, after all.

I'm wondering if they might be related, LOL. I'll get her pedigree really soon, and we can compareWink

    • Gold Top Dog

That would be awesome.  I only know her daddy's side.  If I ever stop randomly adopting every waif that comes along, or else (God forbid) a giant multiple dog hole opened up here, I'm totally getting another Crestie from that breeder.  I've got a friend who talked to her and she said she's really nice.  Her daddy is bred Ch. Blandora Without a Doubt and Ch. I Am All That and More N'Co.  I would have loved to meet him (heck, I would have loved to STEAL him away from his owner, sigh).  As I look at Zhi right now perched on the bed which I put up on MY bed so I could sweep and mop - oh yeah, someday I'll register her UKC and call her Irena No Doubt Whos Boss.  Wink

    • Gold Top Dog

LOL That's a GREAT name for her!!! I don't *think* E's got any N'Co lines. She doesn't have enough hair. I somehow randomly stumbled across a "true" hairless with great furnishings. Go figure, right? She hardly has any body hair. A few fine hairs down her back, and a light spray across her hips is *it*. Oh, and a perfect bite. She's pretty great.... I keep looking at her and being suprized. And then I gush about her, LOL Embarrassed

    • Gold Top Dog

Those are Zhi's grandparents? They are lovely. One day, I want a dog with socks like thatWink

    • Gold Top Dog

Yup.  Apparently hair isn't strongly heritable or else bad hair is.  I've seen some pups from her dam (clueless as to her lines) and they were typically BYB looking youngsters - coarse skin with hair almost everywhere BUT furnishings.

Aren't they purty?  Personality plus - attitude even.  I never understood before what it meant to have a dog that was a natural show dog (I'm like, how can you breed for trotting around a ring?).  Until I got Zhi!  Oh yeah, it's all about the 'tude, baby!

Yes she IS running by and posing for the camera in midflight.  Confused

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, Ena is definitely into it. She looooves trotting around and posing. She's a mess. Ena's skin was pretty course, when I got her, but it's softening with age and hormones. Since her first season, she's gotten much softer and she's starting to really come together. She's going to have amazing ear fringe, and her tail plume is to die for. It's just the socks that are see through thin. I'm hoping that she'll magically get some undercoat or something and they'll thicken up, LOL.

Here's her, peeking out of her kennel at work.

Here's her looking pitiful and unhappy about being groomed. Unfortunately, I don't have many good photos uploaded. Her skin wasn't so great in this one. She's tanned evenly, now, and her skin is looking muuuuch better. She's going to her first show in a few weeks!
