So, one of my students who is taking my tricks class was at a loss as to what kind of trick to teach her dog (large male Akita) last week. He likes me, and will often come up to me for scritches or a cookie in between whatever we're doing. He isn't the most agile dog for tricks, but he's been training with me since puppy kindergarten and I know he's pretty smart. Well, he came up to me and did this weird hoppy thing, so, because I had a clicker in my hand, I captured it, and suggested we teach him "hop" for the cue. So, his mom decided that was one of the things he could do and it would be cute (this week, he's learning to say his prayers LOL). Anyway, when they showed up at class this week, he walked in ahead of his mom, came right up to me, looked at me and did his hop. It was hysterical, and his mom said that he had gotten extremely excited to get to class this week - he must have been dying to show off what he knew and collect a cookie from his "auntie". What a ham.
