Rabbit Droppings Yummo?

    Rabbit Droppings Yummo?

I have a fenced in back yard and would like to be able to play off-leash with my Tibetan Terrier puppy "Pronto" in it. However, he seems to have developed a strong taste for the rabbit droppings that often turn up in my yard. He seems obsessed -- won't play or anything...just keeps looking for and devouring the droppings. I didn't know what he was doing at first, but I finally figured it out. The "Leave It" command learned at Puppy Kindergarten is not helping. (He's 15 weeks old.)

      My questions are:

    Are the droppings dangerous?

Is there anything I can do about this (repelling rabbits? dog training technique?).

    Thanks in advance.

Rabbit droppings, as far as I know are not dangerous or harmful.  Eventually your dog will run off all the rabbits anyway.

At 15 weeks you should continue training with the "Leave it" command.  Remember puppy kindergarten isn't basic obedience training.  Your puppy is still a puppy and he still needs you to teach him what is right and what is wrong.

The dogs that have shared my house with my rabbits have generally got over the thrill of eating rabbit droppings. They always enjoy a little of it, especially fresh ones, but when there's such an ample supply, they tend to get bored with picking tiny balls out of the grass and don't seem inclined to chow down on a large pile of the stuff.

You could always get some rabbit droppings meant for the garden and flood the place with them. [;)]

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I expect the novelty will wear off so at least the pup will start to find you more rewarding that rabbit poop.
