Is he wiping off MY smell?

So what was supposed to be a week visit from my cousins dog has tunred into.....well it looks like we might keep him. Which is fine because Rory loves him and he is so well mannered that he is passing his good manners onto her but anyhoo.....

He is a total "man's dog". When he came to me he didnt cuddle, didnt give kisses, hardly wagged his tail and I've fixed that real quick, lol. He now loves to lay in bed and cozy. However whenever I bend down and love up his face he literally wipes his face with his paw when I'm done. The first time I thought I must have gottenmy hair in his eyes or something but he does it with everyone (how rude), lol. But what is the meaning behind this? I made sure to check he wasnt wiping his ears cause I suspected ear infection but no, its his nose. AND he has to clean himself where ever I touch him? Any clues?

He is a manly dog,I notice he is all about smell. After he sprays pees he has to kick it up of we are in a new place where a lot of dogs have been and ONLY when I tel himt o get off the bed he rolls over on his back and rubs almost as if saying "ok but lemme leave my smell first"

All that aside its really cool to see him lighten up and start enjoying himself. He used to always be on guard, didnt know what to do when petted and was very cautious. But now he literally frolicks through my yard, gets excited to see me and I can tell he is enjoying himself! Here he is with Rory....

No not wiping it off (don't think like a human female "cleaning" is NOT a dog thing *grin*) he is INGESTING your scent.  By tasting it he gets another range of scent from it.  So he wipes it from his nose to his paw so he can get it closer to the Jacobsen's organ to examine the scent more closely.

Essentially he's reading your resume'  is all!! (I don't know how to get the accent over the 'e' there)

I was going to say something stupid like..  maybe since he is a manly mans dog you smell to good and need to skip a shower for a day or two.Wink
