Article on Ian Dunbar

For those of you saying this is about Cesar, there are 18 paragraphs in the article (not talking about the sidebar, that is not part of the article) and only 6 mention Cesar.  How about reading all 3 pages and learn about Dunbar?

And because I started the thread Smile

"The biggest development in the world of dog training is that people are actually training their dogs, and the popularity of Cesar may be responsible for that," says Claudia Kawczynska, editor of Bark magazine. "But the fact is, people are enjoying training more and the amazing bond that develops through training, and that move toward positive reinforcement started with Ian Dunbar."

"While television star Cesar Millan (who turned down our request for an interview) is credited with placing dog training on the public radar,.."

He didn't want to be interviewed?

He didn't want to be interviewed?

I suppose he could have turned it down because he didn't want to be interviewed.

Or maybe there were circumstances that prevented him from taking the interview.

Or perhaps they told him they were going to do a sidebar to an artical comparing him to dog trainer Ian Dunbar and the sidebar was going to be called, "The Trouble with Cesar" and Cesar said... "Nah"...

    Or something else entirely.

One could also say that this could be a discussion about Dunbar but some people get hung up on his comments about CM and can't let that go. So what if Dunbar might be wrong about CM? I'm not saying that he is but who cares? How about discussing the methods and philosophy of Dunbar?

Nor is Dunbar perfect, imo. When he did that video spot for the GL, I felt it was wrong for him to say that he wouldn't bother training his dog any more since the GL accomplished what he wanted. But with people that use prongs or other corrective collars, that might be fine. In which case, my opinion is my own and it may not necessarily invalidate everything else he has to say. Also, he can be quite a resource but he can be wrong at times, imo. I find that anytime a person is put up as infallible and perfect, someone's trying the equivalent of selling me a used car with a leaky engine.
