Eating/Drinking issue w/ new puppy

Hi all, I have a new puppy I brought home yesterday. He's about 7 1/2 weeks old. Anyway my "problem" is (And this may be normal, he's my first puppy since I was in 5th grade 14 or so years ago) he will NOT eat from his food bowl no matter what I do, he will only eat if he sits in my lap and I feed him by hand. He won't touch his water at all. Any suggestions as to how I can encourage him to eat and drink?

if u got him yesterday he still getting use too his new place so...he will start eattin soon just keep showin him he has food & water, what kinda puppy u get?

Welcome to the forum!

Your setting yourself up for a VERY spoiled puppy.
Leave the food and water down, confine your pup in a small area to eat, like a blocked off kitchen. Many times when you have a new pup they are so busy with their new family/surroundings that they don't think about eating

Thanks, that seems to be the general opinion from a couple other forums as well, that I am doing more harm than good by hand feeding him. He just will not stay in the room unless I sit down beside him, and I'm already paranoid he'll just starve himself (This is the first puppy I've ever raised without my parents doing most of the work, I moved out so me and my girlfriend are on our own lol) but I'll just chill out a little and hopefully he'll do the same.
