I rest my case.
Anne, I can give credit where credit is due. I'm sure (although I havent read any of these books) these are great resources for training these types of dogs (retreivers, pointers, spaniels, and shepards). Scent hounds, on the other hand, are a whole different ball game. Unless you (generally speaking) have worked with them in the field and understand their extreme drive, determination, and focus, along with the conditions in which they work, your not really in a position to recommend training methods (no offense intended to anyone, just making a generalization). Experience is a great teacher.
I am not a staunch supporter of the wide spread use of e-collar training as a whole, but they DO have their place. I'm sure there is just as much (maybe more) info out there about the advantages of e-collars as there is about +R. Just to level the playing field...
