    odd....Digging in water bowl?

Bella has decided to "dig" in her water bowl the past few days while its full of water. Is that normal? Is it possible that she has discovered a passion for playing in the water or is she doing this to "misbehave"?

She gets her little paws all wet and splashes it everywhere!

She looks like a terrier, and guess what terriers do for a living LOL?  They dig.
I think she finds it fun.  Dogs really don't stay up late at night figuring out how to "misbehave".  They simply act like dogs.

It is normal behavior. I have a silkie terrior and she digs.

I know she likes to dig as when we are at our cabin she goes nuts in the yard digging to China...but this splashing the water and "digging" in it is a new thing. Crazy girl! Love her dearly...actually thought it was funny...just a bit odd to "DIG" the water!

like humans all animals have their...how shall we say....quirky bit/ moments....i had a rottweiler that used to dunk his head into his water bowl???? it was a big bowl as he was a big dog but i never understood why. it was just him.

I used to have a dog that used to do the same, now that i think about it he was doing it during summer and not at winter, maybe he is hot and wants to refresh himself, of course he cant just pick up the bowl and take a shower himself so he diggs to splash the water, i dont know, i could be wrong

This was one of my first questions when i joined the forum..lol

My Husky loves to dig in the water, but moreso in the summer...it seems that with her,she uses it to cool off her underside.I also believe she has fun with it.

As suggested here,iI bought our pups a kiddie pool to play in,and they love it.

We have a beagle/foxhound mix at the office/kennel now who has this habit. She goes to the water dishes and starts digging, making a huge mess.Once all the water is out of the bowl, she picks it up and runs off with it to a corner to chew on it...[&:]

I work at a dog day care, and when we have someone who is a water bowl digger, we turn a smaller bowl upside down in the bigger bowl. For some reason this seems to stop them. [:D]

Thanks Megan! Funny how Megan's that work at doggy daycares are always so helpful! The doggie daycare that Bella and Charlie used to go to had the nicest girl Megan working there and she always had good advice too! Thanks! :)
