I have just about HAD IT

Every time I have been on medication for depression/ADD, the side effects were horrible. I would either seize, vomit, or be unable to function. In one case I ended up in the hospital with a life threatening reaction to medication, and thus, I'm unwilling to try again. I got tired of trying medications and having none of them work.

There are other ways to treat ADD than drugs. There are always other ways....

That's not the issue, at hand, though.

I too have a very drivey dog that would nip, bark and bank off me during agility. I think you have gotten great advice here, so there is not much I can add as it all has been said previously. The best advice I can give is to try the things suggested by others here and take baby steps. I am happy to say Dasher no longer bites while running [:D] so I am sure there is hope for you as well!!

    Good Luck!!

Well, after having a couple days to get over some of my frustration, my family is remodeling the ENTIRE house.  New carpeting new flooring, painting the walls, etc etc, which means Strauss has been stuck in his crate for longer than usual, because he can't be running around slamming into the freshly painted walls.

We also just installed hardwood floor....the dog has never been on hard wood in his LIFE.  Carpet, yes, linoleum, yes, tile, yes, stone, pacement, and concrete, all yes....hardwood? NEVER.

So the poor dog is trying to learn how to walk on it....it's not going well.  I'm hoping he picks it up real quick, because we're doing the hallway, living room, kitchen, and dining room all in laminate hardwood...and it's all connected.  The poor boy keeps falling, and it's easy to see how frustrated he is with it (Though he tries).

Have any of you seen Over the Hedge?  For those of you that have, remember the part where they've invaded the house to steal the rest of the food, and Hammie is slipping all over the linoleum yelling "No Grip No Grip No Grip!!!!"?  That's what Strauss is like...and all I can do is picture a Raccoon yelling at Strauss "Less Claw, more pad!" because Strauss keeps trying to cling with his nails....and only ends up falling.

...We're going to have a woodwalking lesson tomorrow.  He's not afraid of it, and will willingly (attempt to) walk on it, but it's obvious when you look at him that he hates it and misses the carpeting.

No one has mentioned this, so I'll give it a shot - have you thought about a muzzle?  Just a soft one, nothing harsh - he wears it if he acts up.  This would help with the barking and biting.......most of the time I don't approve of muzzles and would rather train the dog out of a bad behavior, but it sounds as if you are desperate and have tried so many avenues - perhaps this would work.

No, no muzzles.  When we were involved in schutzhund, a muzzle was used to build frustration as in inhibits the dog's ability to bite.  I need to lessen frustration, not add to it.
