Clicker Backfire!

    Clicker Backfire!

Oh,  just kidding. Murphy has become the Drawer Shutting King lately and he loves it so much that he follows me around the house (he's pretty much glued to me anyway) slamming drawers shut at every opportunity, without the clicker now. Yesterday he tried shutting a couple while I was in them! I told myself that I ought to quit clicker training him right now, just to be safe.

Actually, I've noticed this whole other personality starting to come out of him, thanks to the clicker. I can tell how much he loves and values the communication tools he's learned and he gets a kick out of showing off for company, watching their reactions, dancing around while they clap. He's even tried to kiss a few visitors! He's a nut--he's such a different dog and he's getting better every day.

But, I did put an end to his deciding to slam drawers shut whenever he wants. We are now practicing a decent "wait" and then I tell him when to "close it" and click for that.

    Whew . . .

That could have been painful if he got your fingers!   Our remote control nearly got bitten in half my dog was so zealous about finding it and bringing it to me.... he was always so pleased with himself.... brings a smile to your face.  But I'm careful about what I teach now......

That is hilarious. Juneau has taken to rolling over a couple of times with no cue whenever she wants to impress us (i.e., we have a treat or something to give her).

Hehe, I think most have learned something like that in their history of clicker training. I still laugh at how Gaci will use her paw as a hand to open whatever it is she can wrap her foot around. And to think, it all stemmed from wanting her to open/shut her kennel door with her paw....and now she pulls the x-pen when she wants, tries to open the fence gate if it's not latched....lol.

But I wouldn't have it any other way!
