• Well, that's a funny trick jennie_c_d Posted : 3/4/2006 1:06:13 AM What's the weirdest thing your dog does on command? I think Emma's weirdest is herding. Yes, she herds. When asked, LOL. She is the dog calling police. If I call any animal, it COMES, whether it wants to or not. I can open the back door with any number of dogs outside, and say, "Bring em in!". They're all rounded up into a group, and heels nipped and pushed inside. She taught herself herding, I just marked it and cued it. I think it's strange, b/c I've never heard of a JRT herding. • jensw Posted : 3/4/2006 1:22:08 AM I don't have anything like that yet.  I really want to get flapping his ears on cue, but I can't ever seem to capture it.    But the easiest "trick" that I taught is "relax."  I tell him "down" and he'll do a sphinx-like down.  Then I say, "relax" and he flops over on his side.  Sometimes he flops over so his whole body is relaxed except his head is still up and staring at me.  I'll say, "like a dead dog" and he lays his head down.  Then I can pick up all his legs, tail, lips, ears, etc. and he just lies there relaxed.  It's very useful and very lazy-bones hound like. The reason for this was that a family of squirrels decided to make it's home right outside my window. I would show certain family members the squirrels, by saying "look at how cute they are, etc.) and daisy would be right under me, watching them and barking. (we have a ceiling to floor window in my bedroom- it's a bit of a problem in the summer!) It can get annoying after a while, though. • nigguysmom Posted : 3/5/2006 12:30:29 PM I've gotten Nigel to die on command.  I look at him, point my "hand"-gun at him and say, "Bang" and he flops down onto the floor and lays there, then he'll lift his head and look at you and you can "shoot" him again and he'll drop his head back down.    Also can get both him and Sydney to let me put a treat on their noses and they stay there until I say "OK" and they doss it up and catch the treat at the same time.     0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. • labcrab Posted : 3/6/2006 4:15:51 PM Wow, you guys have some really good ones.  Jen, I can totally picture Roscoe "half dead" with his body relaxed but his head up and looking at you!    I don't really have anything at all yet.  Except maybe this one - the human children in my house call ones bottom a "CooCoo".  Sometimes when they tell Slick to "Sit", he takes too long (he's an adolescent at the moment).  The boys get impatient and say "CooCoo Down!"
