i have a 10 week old female puggle (roxie) and a 10 year old male beagle/husky/shepherd mix (buster). even though he's 10 he has the energy of a 2 yr old.
he's always been my baby but since the puppy came along he's gotten defiant. he doesn't try to bite her but of course he'll growl or snap to keep her in her place. he's been ignoring me. he's great off the leash. he can wander up and down the street and keep close by. but since the puppy came into the picture he's not too good anymore off the leash. when i'm ready to go in i call his name and he plainly ignores me and comes back when he feels like it. today he went far from the house and i had to put the leash on him and practically drag him home.
i won't lie, i do pay a bit more attention to her because she's a puppy and needs the attention. i give buster attention just not 100% attention.
i thought this might happen. he probably feels this is his home not hers. it's his teritory and feels he's being replaced and is jealous and hurt. i hate how he's acting. he is my baby. i love him. i want to do something with him to take him away from her a little. so i plan to take him to the dog park. i'm just wondering if he'll get over this and if he does, when will he? how long does it take? it hurts me knowing he's acting this way.
