Diapers?

I was just wondering if you put diapers on a puppy, will that affect them on the long run, like around the house he may poop because he is used to the diapers?
I don't want to put diapers on my puppy, but just wondering.

I dont think any dog would enjoy wearing a diaper. And if they did get used to it I would be afraid that it would get them used to being in thier own mess. EWW. They make Bitches Britches but that is for a female dog when she goes into heat. It keeps the blood from getting everywhere, but more importantly deters male dogs long enough to get in there yourself. I dont' think useing diapers in the human sense would teach a dog anything.

Edit to add: they have dog diapers, but those are for incontinence I believe. For dogs with bladder problems or whatever.

Urine irritates skin, and diapering doesn't solve the problem...what could happen is you wind up with a dog with hotspots *and* a housetraining issue. Dogs need to learn how to pee and poo appropriately--behavior issues like this are the Number 1 reason dogs die, and they have no reason to know unless their owners show them--and this is a process.

"No Diapers" is one of the things that make training 4-legged kids so much easier than training 2-legged kids, IMHO. [
