    Playful puppy

Like in the other post my new puppy is 8 weeks, and when i let him outside he potty then comes to play with me. I was just wondering he plays by biting on your legs, i really didnt mind it untill i started to become annoyed, is this correct for a 8 week old puppy to do?
Also he walks so close up to your feet you can run him over, i mistakly steped on his toe like 5 times already.

My puppy did this until she was about 14 weeks.    I thought we'd never be able to walk on the leash because she wanted to walk right under my feet all the time and she ripped a few of my pants.   When she jumped up on me I would stand still, whimper, turn my back to her and ignore her for 30 seconds, then start playing with her again and praise her when she was playing well without jumping on me.    It worked very well and her jumping and pant-biting tapered of very quickly.

For walking under the feet, I put her on a leash and would just stop, step to the side and keep walking for a few steps.   I praised her and gave her a treat when she walked well at my side.   That in addition to her gaining confidence and wanting to explore more on her own helped immensely and very quickly.

    Hi Dizzy....
lol it seems like all little puppies need to be RIGHT where your feet are, at all times...
the nipping behavior needs to definately be halted while you're puppy's young...   "The kind of puppy you have is the kind of dog you're going to have"... so if you think the nippy at your legs is cute, then now annoying.... imagine an adult dog doing this to you....
So, it's important to start early... with our recent litter of puppies a quick "OW" and pull your body part away that they're nipping at usually startles them to stop....
if they're sitting with you, and wanting to chew on your hands, etc, say, "ow" pull your hand away, and stick a chew-toy in their mouth and give them praise and pets... thats' worked at a young age for our last adoptables....
here are a few websites with great tips too...  Please keep this behavior in check!!

It is normal, JJ does that all the time when she was a few weeks old.
    I wouldn't allow it though. [;)]
